Start of PoC for Community Residence Project in Shibuya Area

Launching the Community Residence Project in Shibuya Area

In a significant development for urban living, U Share Co., Ltd. has announced the initiation of a Proof of Concept (PoC) for a Community Residence project in collaboration with Tokyu Land Corporation in Minato Ward, Tokyo. This innovative program aims to foster a thriving environment through the interaction of diverse talents and information, enabling residents to grow and build communities while creating new business ventures and technological advancements.

Project Background

Tokyu Land Corporation is committed to creating future value through three key areas: industry development, urban tourism, and urban infrastructure development. Aiming to establish the Shibuya area as a leading international hub, this project responds to the growing presence of global companies and diverse industries within the vicinity. Notably, the Shibuya area has seen a surge in international startup facilities, medical institutions, and international schools, enhancing its appeal to young professionals and overseas families.

Despite its growth, urban living often leads to a disconnection between living spaces and essential functions such as working, learning, and socializing. The lack of community-oriented living environments poses a significant societal challenge. There's a pressing need for open, collaborative urban infrastructures that support the recruitment and retention of exceptional global talent and facilitate industry innovation.

This endeavor aspires to create an integrated living and working environment where people from various backgrounds can naturally connect, fostering a new industrial ecosystem that transcends national and professional boundaries. The PoC aims to validate this concept through real residential experiences, allowing both single occupants and families to live, learn, and engage within the community.

Future Plans

By assessing resident demographics and needs through user feedback and data analysis during the PoC, the initiative plans to refine and enhance future development and marketing strategies. The insights gained will inform further advancements in the community residence model both within and beyond the Shibuya area.

Statement from Leadership

Masamichi Ueta, CEO of U Share Co., Ltd. commented, “This partnership with Tokyu Land signifies a deeper collaboration in shaping our urban future. Our mission has included striving for residences that intertwine learning and living. In this initiative, we aim to provide concrete solutions to the societal challenges of industry development and international competitiveness through community formation and real estate insights. Community residences are not just living spaces; they serve as ‘urban platforms,’ connecting people and communities to the broader world.
