Envision Energy, a global pioneer in green technology, has announced a significant collaboration with Kallista Energy, a prominent renewable energy producer in Europe. The two companies are set to deliver an advanced energy storage system in Neuilly-en-Thelle, located in Hauts-de-France. This project involves a Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) boasting a capacity of 193 MW/386 MWh, with construction having commenced in early July 2026. It is anticipated that the facility will commence commercial operation before the arrival of spring 2028.
A New Milestone in Energy Collaboration
This project follows the successful completion of the Saleux project, which marked Envision Energy’s first BESS initiative in France and began construction in 2025. Neuilly-en-Thelle is further testimony to the strengthening partnership between Envision Energy and Kallista Energy, presenting a scalable model for introducing energy storage systems across Europe. By strengthening this collaboration, the two companies are helping to shape the Future Energy System in the region.
Envision Energy will provide its state-of-the-art BESS technology and oversee the project's entire lifecycle, which includes maintenance and battery recycling after 25 years of operation. The project is powered by Envision AESC’s lithium iron phosphate (LFP) cells, backed by its 10 GWh gigafactory operational in Hauts-de-France since June 2025. This integration merges local battery production with system deployment, enhancing industrial capacity and resilience in the regional energy infrastructure.
Impact on the French Energy Grid
Upon completion, the BESS will deliver crucial flexibility services to the French grid, particularly frequency regulation through RTE’s reserve markets. This capability is essential for balancing electricity supply and demand. With storage capacity equivalent to the daily energy consumption of approximately 30,000 households, the project will significantly bolster grid stability, promote greater incorporation of renewable energy sources, and support France's ongoing electrification efforts.
