Celebrate the 2nd Annual Chowder Cook-Off at CRŪ Winery
After an outstanding inaugural event, CRŪ Winery in Soledad, California, is thrilled to announce the return of the Chowder Cook-Off Contest! This exciting culinary event is open for recipe submissions, running until August 19th, 2025. The contest invites residents from all over California to showcase their best chowder recipes, culminating in a festive cook-off in October.

The Chowder Cook-Off is scheduled for
Saturday, October 4, 2025, at CRŪ Winery’s picturesque Santa Lucia Highlands tasting room. Not only will the selected finalists compete for the coveted title of Chowder Cook-Off Champion, but they will also have the chance to win an exciting getaway to Monterey, California. Two runners-up will be awarded a complimentary two-night stay, where they will prepare their chowder recipes live at the event!
Judging Criteria
CRŪ Winery will evaluate entries based on creativity, taste, and how well the chowders complement their renowned single-vineyard Chardonnays. This year, a panel of esteemed judges will include returning wine columnist and competition judge Laura Ness, popular wine blogger Christy, and former Mayor of Soledad, Fred Ledesma. Their expertise will ensure that the best chowder takes the top prize.
