A Partnership Paving the Way for Future Innovations
In an exciting collaboration, Genki Global Dining Concepts, headquartered in Taitō, Tokyo, has teamed up with Meiji University's Faculty of Business Administration. This partnership aims to foster innovation through the lens of Generation Z, set to run from October to November 2025. Driven by the need to understand contemporary consumer behavior, this initiative seeks to generate fresh insights that can redefine the company's product planning and promotional strategies.
Understanding Generation Z
The project features participation from 34 students divided into six teams from Meiji University. They were tasked with answering the question, "What makes a revolving sushi chain appealing to Generation Z?" Over a month-long discussion period, students generated innovative ideas grounded in their understanding of Z generation values and interests. During the final presentations, they showcased their creative marketing tactics and in-depth knowledge of social media, aligning closely with the interests of a demographic that is rapidly gaining purchasing power.
Among the standout ideas was the use of the social media platform
BeReal, combined with AI-driven video promotions. Such suggestions not only highlighted the students’ unique perspectives but also emphasized their ability to engage with a generation that values authenticity and immediate social connections. This collaboration has proven to be a fertile ground for generating initiatives that could deeply influence Genki's marketing direction and product development going forward.
Insights and Impact
Genki's management gleaned valuable information from these proposals, allowing them to cultivate a deeper understanding of Generation Z's consumption habits and value systems. This deeper insight is integral as the company looks to navigate the evolving market landscape and adapt accordingly to the preferences of younger customers.
Moreover, the project has not only been beneficial for Genki but has also enhanced the educational experience of Meiji University students. It has empowered them to strengthen essential skills like problem identification, creative thinking, and effective communication. This significance highlights the importance of practical learning experiences and the connection between academia and industry, allowing students to apply their theoretical knowledge in real-world scenarios.
Future Prospects
Many of the suggestions proposed during this collaboration have shown substantial potential for real business application. As Genki moves forward, internal preparations and marketing strategies will be set in motion to gradually implement these innovative proposals.
Additionally, the relationship established with Meiji University will serve as a foundation for continuing academic collaboration. Both organizations are committed to actively pursuing joint initiatives that not only drive business growth but also contribute to sustainable development goals, particularly in providing quality education for all.
By nurturing this alliance, Genki Global Dining Concepts envisions a future where its restaurant chains not only serve excellent food but also resonate with the values and expectations of the modern consumer. The emphasis on quality, creativity, and connection to educational institutions showcases Genki's commitment to leading the industry into a promising future.
