Valeo and AWS Team Up to Revolutionize Automotive Software with Cloud Innovation
In a groundbreaking collaboration, Valeo and Amazon Web Services (AWS) are set to redefine the automotive landscape through the development of cloud-native technologies tailored for Software-Defined Vehicles (SDVs). This partnership, showcased at CES 2025, aims to simplify the automotive development process, facilitating faster and more efficient workflows for automotive engineers. With over 30 years of leadership in software and electronics design, Valeo is leveraging its extensive experience to enhance digital services and streamline software development while AWS provides a robust cloud infrastructure to support these initiatives.
The collaboration is designed to accelerate various facets of automotive technology, focusing on the development of Electronic Control Units (ECUs), facilitating better testing environments, and improving overall user experiences. One of the standout solutions introduced is the Valeo Virtualized Hardware Lab, which can speed up ECU software development by as much as 40%. This solution enables car manufacturers to test their software on virtualized ECU models, reducing costs and enhancing the timeline for software updates.
In addition to this, Valeo is rolling out the Valeo Cloud Hardware Lab, touted as the first Hardware-in-the-loop as-a-Service (HILaaS) system. This service allows automotive companies to access comprehensive hardware testing capabilities without the need for significant upfront investments in infrastructure. With this cloud-based solution, developers can engage in end-to-end software testing and validation, driving forward the innovations in Autonomous Mobility workflows.
Furthermore, Valeo is using AWS’s advanced data and AI services to introduce Assist XR, a pioneering remote assistance functionality aimed at improving the driving experience. This innovative remote service offers real-time analytics and support, enabling quicker assistance for drivers while also giving insights into vehicle maintenance.
To solidify their partnership, Valeo has joined the AWS Partner Network (APN), aligning itself with a global community focused on exploiting cloud technologies to create exceptional automotive solutions. Marc Vrecko, CEO of Valeo's Brain division, emphasized the collaboration’s focus on enhancing customer experiences whilst lowering the costs associated with software development cycles, aiming to push the boundaries of automotive innovation.
On the other hand, Ozgur Tohumcu, General Manager of Automotive and Manufacturing at AWS, shared insights on the role of cloud and AI technologies in propelling innovation across the automotive sector. This collaboration is expected to make a significant impact on how stakeholders within the automotive industry approach software-driven transformations.
The details of these initiatives and their potential impact on the automotive industry will be further explored during CES 2025, with demonstrations and discussions scheduled from January 6th to 10th in Las Vegas.
Valeo’s commitment to enhancing mobility through innovative technologies positions it as a key player in the transition toward more digital and connected vehicles, aligning with the ongoing transformation in the automotive arena that values efficiency, safety, and sustainability. By embracing this technological shift through partnerships like the one with AWS, Valeo aims to lead in redefining how vehicles are built and operated in a cloud-driven future. This partnership not only promises to accelerate the automotive development cycle but also aims to set the stage for future advancements in mobility technology that prioritize user experience and integration of groundbreaking AI solutions.
