Kashima Gakuen High School Girls Soccer Team Reaches National Semifinals for the First Time in History

Historic Achievement by Kashima Gakuen High School Girls Soccer Team

Kashima Gakuen High School's girls soccer team has achieved a historic milestone by becoming the first team in the school's history to reach the national semifinals of the All Japan High School Girls Soccer Championship. This remarkable achievement underscores their commitment to their slogan: "Humble, Hungry, All the Way."

The journey to this accomplishment has been filled with hard work and perseverance. After experiencing disappointment last year by falling short in the top 16, the team dedicated themselves to their training and improvement. In 2025, Kashima Gakuen's remarkable season began with their victory in the Kanto region qualifiers of the Inter-High, marking the first such win for a team from Ibaraki Prefecture. Their performance at the national level culminated in a dramatic advancement to the top 8, which they have often struggled to surpass in the past.

This year, the team set their sights on breaking through that barrier. With exceptional performances in the early rounds—where they won by narrow margins including a penalty shootout in the third round and defeating the experienced team from Hinomoto Gakuen in the quarterfinals—they ultimately reached the semifinals.

To support their continued journey, Spportunity Inc, a Tokyo-based sports crowdfunding platform, has launched a project to assist the team in reaching their goals. After successfully breaking through the top 8 barrier, Spportunity is now working to raise 2 million yen for the team’s travel and accommodation expenses leading up to the finals.

Every contribution received will play a significant role in ensuring the athletes can train and compete at their very best in the semifinals and beyond. The funds raised will be strictly allocated to travel costs and accommodation arrangements ensuring that the team has the necessary resources to compete across the nation fully.

This crowdfunding initiative is being conducted from November 28, 2025, until January 12, 2026. The initial goal was set at 1 million yen, which has already been met, and now every additional donation will help propel them further towards their ambitious 2 million yen target.

The format of this crowdfunding project is an ALL-IN model, allowing the team to retain all funds raised, whether or not they reach their stretch goal. It's also worth noting that these donations are not eligible for tax deductions, a common aspect of crowdfunding campaigns.

The semifinal match is scheduled for January 7, 2026, at 14:00, where Kashima Gakuen will face off against Kamimura Gakuen. Viewers can catch the action live on TVer, starting at 13:50.

This is a community effort that transcends beyond just a game; it is a rallying cry for support and encouragement from fans and aspiring athletes alike. Each individual contribution, regardless of size, can significantly impact these young women’s aspirations as they aim for glory.
