McDermott Secures Major Offshore Contract with BRAVA Energia

In a move set to bolster its presence in the south American offshore market, McDermott International, Ltd. has announced a significant offshore transportation and installation contract awarded by BRAVA Energia. This award is pivotal as it encompasses operations targeting the Papa-Terra and Atlanta fields, both nestled offshore Brazil.

The contract involves the transportation and installation of essential subsea equipment such as flexible pipelines and umbilicals for two new wells at the Papa-Terra field, in addition to two more at the Atlanta field, which is part of a larger development scheme. Furthermore, the agreement includes pre-commissioning and support services from McDermott's onshore bases, reinforcing their commitment to the project’s success.

Mahesh Swaminathan, McDermott's Senior Vice President of Subsea and Floating Facilities, articulated the contract's significance, stating, "This award highlights the vital role of subsea infrastructure in enabling long-term production and asset value for deepwater developments." He emphasized McDermott’s commitment to utilizing its proven integrated delivery model and marine capabilities to facilitate the project.

The ongoing endeavor spearheaded by BRAVA Energia aims to ramp up oil production while also extending the operational life of deepwater infrastructure in the Campos Basin. This initiative aligns with the company’s goal of significantly increasing output in a market where oil production continues to be a critical economic driver.

Notably, McDermott holds a deep legacy in this region, having successfully installed the first tension leg wellhead platform in South America at the Papa-Terra field in its previous undertakings. This contract, categorized by McDermott as a sizable contract, which is defined as valued between USD $1 million and USD $50 million, underscores their strategic focus on enhancing Brazil's energy landscape and supporting further advancements in the offshore oil and gas sector.

As both companies gear up for the execution phase, stakeholders are encouraged by the potential positive impact on local economies and the broader energy landscape in Brazil. With over 30,000 employees and a diversified fleet of marine construction vessels, McDermott is well-positioned to deliver innovative solutions for its clients, ensuring a sustainable approach as they harness and transform global energy resources.

The collaboration between McDermott and BRAVA Energia marks another step forward in reinforcing Brazil’s status as a key player in the global oil and gas market. As these developments unfold, industry watchers will be keen to observe the advancements and efficiencies that will arise from this partnership, especially in the dynamic environment of deepwater operations.
