Shanghai Electric Unveils Comprehensive Solutions for Carbon Neutral Economy at 2026 Expo
Shanghai Electric's Innovations at the 2026 Carbon Neutrality Expo
In June 2026, Shanghai Electric unveiled its innovative strategies for transitioning to a carbon-neutral economy during the Shanghai International Carbon Neutrality Expo. With the theme "Engineering the Optimal Zero-Carbon Solution," the event showcased a variety of technologies, products, and achievements aimed at reducing carbon footprints across industries.
During the three-day expo, Shanghai Electric highlighted its strengths in developing zero-emission industrial parks, low-carbon technology innovations, and comprehensive green solutions tailored to address distinct scenarios. The company has established a robust integrated value chain in energy equipment, ensuring the delivery of customized solutions that promote green and low-carbon development.
Industrial parks play a pivotal role in green and low-carbon growth, and at the expo, Shanghai Electric presented its "White Paper on Technical Measures for Planning and Construction of Zero-Emission Parks." This document serves as a systematic and practical guide to developing ecological and low-carbon parks, focusing on energy efficiency, energy replacement, and resource circulation. Shanghai Electric provides extensive services ranging from planning and construction to operational management, encompassing clean energy supply, low-carbon infrastructure, resource recycling, and smart operation and maintenance.
The company has completed numerous demonstration projects aimed at fostering green and low-carbon industrial parks. Notable examples include the "Zero-Carbon Bay" project located in the Lin-kang special zone of Shanghai and the smart energy park in Shantou, Guangdong Province. The Lin-kang project was recognized as one of China’s first 52 national zero-carbon parks and the only one in Shanghai, emphasizing Shanghai Electric's role in the planning, construction, and operational deployment of integrated zero-carbon systems for advanced manufacturing sectors.
The Shantou project effectively integrates wind and solar energy, energy storage solutions, charging infrastructure, and intelligent energy management, earning the first carbon-neutral certification in Guangdong Province. Shanghai Electric's wide-ranging expertise in renewable energy solutions—encompassing wind, solar, storage, hydrogen, and nuclear sources—allows the company to cover the entire carbon-neutral value chain from production to energy-efficient devices and smart platforms. This synergy within the value chain not only strengthens the technological and industrial foundation necessary for building carbon-neutral scenarios but also reflects the company's commitment to innovation in clean technologies.
For the second consecutive year, Shanghai Electric has released data showcasing its contributions to reducing corporate carbon footprints. In 2025, the company reported a reduction of approximately 389 million tons of CO2 equivalent emissions, continuously leveraging its green technologies and industrial capabilities to facilitate the transition toward a low-carbon economy.
Moreover, Shanghai Electric revealed the next phase of its ESG development strategy, reiterating its dedication to advancing clean technology innovations, low-carbon management practices, and sustainability principles. By collaborating with partners across the globe, the company aims to support the worldwide shift towards carbon neutrality, emphasizing the urgency and importance of aligning industrial operations with sustainable practices.
Through this engagement at the 2026 expo, Shanghai Electric positioned itself as a leader in the green energy sector, illustrating its commitment to addressing climate challenges and promoting sustainable development initiatives.
