IT Freelancers' Tax Filing Seminar: Essential Basics
On December 18, 2025, Geek and Tech Co., based in Shibuya, Tokyo, will host its annual online seminar titled, "Tax Filing for IT Freelancers: Essential Basics". This year, we focus on two main themes: "Essential Basics for Beginners" and "Surprising Tax Savings Strategies." The first session will be tailored specifically for those just starting their journey in handling tax filing, aiming to alleviate the uncertainties many freelancers face.
Overview of the Seminar
Freelancers often grapple with the challenges of tax filing, raising questions like, "What do I need to do for tax filing?" and "What preparations are necessary?" To address these concerns, we are hosting our tax filing seminar again, building on the successful feedback from last year, where participants rated their satisfaction at an impressive 98%.
This seminar is designed for registered IT freelancers at GEECHS but is also welcome to IT engineers contemplating a freelance career. Participants will gain crucial insights from Yasushi Nishioka, an expert from the Matsumoto Tax Corporation, who specializes in freelance tax matters. This year's session will guide attendees through the basics of tax filing, covering essential knowledge such as the how-tos of filling out tax forms, the differences between blue and white tax submissions, and various tax obligations including income tax and local taxes. We'll also introduce essential tax-saving strategies like hometown tax donations and what qualifies as deductible expenses.
Participants will have the opportunity to engage actively via Zoom's chat feature, allowing for real-time questions and clarifications. A dedicated Q&A segment at the end will further enhance understanding, and attendees will be able to gather tips directly from experienced tax professionals.
To sweeten the deal, everyone who joins the seminar will receive a complimentary initial consultation with Matsumoto Tax Corporation.
