Toyota Mobility Foundation Launches Fourth Round of 'Good Life on Earth' Program for High School and University Students

Start of the Fourth Round of 'Good Life on Earth' Program

The Toyota Mobility Foundation (TMF), led by Chairman Akio Toyoda, has officially opened applications for the fourth cohort of the 'Good Life on Earth' support program in collaboration with the One Earth Guardians (OEGs) organization at the University of Tokyo. This initiative is designed for high school and university first- and second-year students who are eager to realize their exciting ideas.

The program encourages applicants to tap into their passions and aspirations in a bid to promote a sustainable 'Good Life' for our planet. Successful candidates will enter a selection process that includes mentorship from esteemed University of Tokyo professors, aiding them in refining their ideas before transitioning into research and development. Notably, the costs associated with their activities will, in principle, be subsidized by the program itself.

Application Background

Launched in 2022, this initiative has already made significant strides. In its inaugural year, eight students were selected, followed by seven in both 2023 and 2024. Through advice from cutting-edge researchers and opportunities to network with peers who share similar ambitions, participants have been able to expand their passions and move closer to realizing their individual visions of a good life for themselves and the earth.

The program aims to continue fostering a community where passionate high school and university students can connect and challenge themselves to pursue what they love, especially with an eye toward expanding participation in 2025.

The application invites individuals who resonate with the program's philosophy and are driven to meet challenges. Eligible candidates include high school students, technical college students, and first- or second-year university students within Japan—or those of similar ages.
