MetTel Enhances Network Capacity for Federal Agencies
In a significant move towards modernizing federal communications, MetTel has successfully completed a comprehensive upgrade of network capacity for the U.S. General Services Administration (GSA). This initiative aligns with the Administration's executive order mandating the return of federal employees to the office. The project involved equipping 11 GSA offices across the nation with advanced Software-Defined Wide Area Network (SD-WAN) technology, alongside 22 newly installed high-capacity network circuits and Voice over IP services.
A Response to Evolving Needs
The infrastructure upgrades were necessitated by an urgent need. With the government's directive for employees to return to work in full capacity, it was clear that existing systems required significant enhancements to handle increased bandwidth demands essential for providing mission-critical government services. Each office was tailored with state-of-the-art SD-WAN technology, enabling intelligent traffic management, improved resiliency, and centralized network visibility.
Quick Turnaround
Demonstrating their commitment to speed and efficiency, MetTel mobilized resources and installed all 22 circuits within weeks, significantly ahead of industry standards. Notably, a state-of-the-art 10G circuit was established within a remarkable 60-day timeframe, which was crucial to meet the requirements outlined in a Telecommunications Service Priority order. This rapid deployment showcases MetTel's capability to scale operations efficiently in response to public sector needs.
Future-Proofing Government Operations
The SD-WAN architecture that MetTel employed not only addressed immediate upgrades but was also designed with future growth in mind. This foresight allows the infrastructure to accommodate future bandwidth demands without the need for major overhauls, ultimately translating to long-term cost savings for the government.
"The federal return-to-office mandate created an urgent, real-world test of our capabilities," said Don Parente, MetTel's Vice President of Public Sector. "Our operations team delivered fast, reliable network modernization, meeting the Administration's Executive Order to return to work."
