Patriot Battery Metals Completes Successful Drill Program for CV5 Spodumene Pegmatite
Patriot Battery Metals Inc. recently announced the successful completion of its
2024 summer-fall in-fill drill program at the CV5 Spodumene Pegmatite, part of the Shaakichiuwaanaan Property in Eeyou Istchee James Bay, Quebec. This extensive and highly productive drilling effort has not only reached its primary objective of upgrading resources but also contributed significantly to the eventual Feasibility Study planned for release in Q3 2025.
Overview of Drilling Operations
The drilling phase resulted in a staggering
total of 65,384 meters being drilled during this summer and fall. Altogether, the company has achieved a cumulative drilling total of
128,052 meters calendar-wise throughout the year 2024. This aggressive drilling strategy is designed to bring critical data required to move the project forward in terms of resource estimation and project viability.
The in-fill drilling has yielded impressive results including:
- - 124.5 m at 1.25% Li2O (including 16.5 m at 2.32% Li2O)
- - 100.5 m at 1.62% Li2O (including 55.5 m at 2.01% Li2O)
- - 77.3 m at 1.66% Li2O (including 17.5 m at 2.16% Li2O)
- - More notable results have also come through other drill holes, reaffirming the resource potential within the pegmatites of the site.
These results demonstrate a strong continuity of high-grade lithium mineralization, particularly valuable given the surging demand for lithium in the energy sector.
Geotechnical and Hydrogeological Assurance
In addition to the in-fill drilling, a comprehensive
geotechnical and hydrogeological drilling campaign was also conducted. The assessment included the completion of 70 holes covering a total of
1,514 meters. This strategic initiative serves as vital support for understanding the engineering aspects of potential infrastructure developments.
The precision gathered through the drilling program aids in validating the feasibility of project components, including the mining camp and processing facilities. With a significant backlog of data still pending analysis, the wealth of information collected strengthens the foundation of the project's overall architecture.
Future Vision for the CV5 Project
Darren L. Smith, Vice President of Exploration at Patriot, expressed optimism regarding the results achieved thus far. He acknowledged that the drilling program significantly elevates the CV5 project, setting it on a trajectory towards feasibility and potentially marking a milestone for the lithium sector in North America.
The next phase involves focusing on reporting and analyzing the remainder of the drilling results while integrating them into a refined geological model. This will enhance the understanding of the resource and prove vital for subsequently calculating Ore Reserve estimates.
As the market anticipates a growing reliance on lithium-ion technology, the successful completion of the drilling at CV5 not just signifies rapid advancement for Patriot but also underscores its vision for creating a robust supply chain for lithium production. The company remains committed to developing environmentally sustainable practices as they move forward and work on various studies including environmental baselines and logistics.
Commitment to Sustainability
Patriot Battery Metals is fully conscious of its role in environmental stewardship and community engagement. The company is conducting environmental assessments to ensure that all necessary conditions are met as the project advances through the feasibility study and beyond.
In summary, the successful drilling completion at CV5 sets a positive tone for the future of
Patriot Battery Metals and its pursuit of establishing a sustainable and economically viable lithium project within an ever-growing market.
