TAOKE ENERGY Develops 5.3MWh Energy Storage System for NTT Anode Energy

Introduction

TAOKE ENERGY has embarked on a significant project by developing a 5.3MWh energy storage system for NTT Anode Energy in Wako, Saitama, Japan. This innovative storage facility, named the "Saitama Wako Energy Storage Plant," is scheduled to commence commercial operations in January 2025, marking a pivotal step forward in the realm of renewable energy and energy storage solutions in Japan.

Overview of Saitama Wako Energy Storage Plant

The Saitama Wako Energy Storage Plant boasts the following features:
  • - Name: Saitama Wako Energy Storage Plant
  • - Location: Wako City, Saitama Prefecture
  • - Battery Type: Lithium-ion battery
  • - PCS Output: 1,124kW
  • - Nominal Capacity: 5,304kWh (equivalent to the daily power consumption of approximately 460 households)
  • - Commencement of Operations: January 2025
  • - Operator: NTT Anode Energy

Importance of Supplier Selection in Energy Storage Investments

The growing emphasis on renewable energy has heightened interest in energy storage investments. However, only a few companies possess bidding experience, leading to an overall shortage in bids within this burgeoning market. In such a competitive landscape, early connection to the grid can significantly enhance revenue potential for operators. Thus, careful selection of suppliers is crucial. Technical deficiencies may lead to failure in meeting entry requirements, and some suppliers are not equipped to handle primary adjustment power. Others may lack stability in their battery systems, exposing investors to imbalance fee risks. Additionally, overseas suppliers may struggle to provide adequate after-sales support in Japan, contributing to hidden costs and diminished profitability.

TAOKE ENERGY's Comprehensive Solution

TAOKE ENERGY addresses these challenges effectively by leveraging its competitive advantages. Acting as an integrator, the company offers a seamless, one-stop service that covers everything from system integration to after-sales support through a well-established supply chain. Prior to shipment, all equipment and systems undergo comprehensive testing that includes Energy Management Systems (EMS), ensuring that most issues are resolved before arriving on site. This approach significantly reduces commissioning time and accelerates early grid connection, positively impacting revenue.

Moreover, with the establishment of its Kyushu office, TAOKE ENERGY has stockpiled essential spare parts to facilitate prompt maintenance and emergency responses, ensuring stable support across the region. In July 2024, NTT Anode Energy visited TAOKE ENERGY's supply chain factory, providing positive feedback, which has propelled the development of another energy storage project in Hokkaido.

Technological Strength: Merging Safety and Stability in Battery Systems

TAOKE ENERGY's robust partnership with CATL, a global leader in battery manufacturing, ensures the use of high-safety and cutting-edge lithium-ion technologies. The company's unique dual-layer EMS system enhances control capabilities, ensuring high reliability and stability for long-term battery operations. This combination positions TAOKE ENERGY as a provider of reliable energy storage systems that effectively mitigate penalty risks while minimizing market exit concerns.

Future Prospects

Currently, TAOKE ENERGY has a portfolio of 50 completed energy storage projects, with six units successfully delivered and two already connected to the grid. Notably, the Saitama Wako Energy Storage Plant is the first to become operational.

To further drive the growth of its energy storage business, TAOKE ENERGY has adopted a two-pronged strategy focusing on development, sales, and investment. Two sales models are in place: "sale after completion of the storage facility" and "construction following the acquisition of land rights." For investments, options include self-investment, joint ventures, and fund formation.

Through these initiatives, TAOKE ENERGY stands resolutely committed to the advancement of energy storage solutions, aligning its efforts with the common societal goal of achieving carbon neutrality.
