Introduction
Fukuoka City has taken a significant step towards enhancing the efficiency and quality assurance of its public works, specifically in sewer construction. In an innovative partnership with Lucre, the city is set to implement a groundbreaking project utilizing AI technology for photo management. Named "Kuraemon," this system enables automatic sorting and cloud-sharing of construction photos taken on-site, streamlining workflow and alleviating the administrative burden on construction workers.
Background
Fukuoka City has been focusing on ensuring the reliability of the workmanship, quality, and safety in its sewer projects. To achieve this, the city requires construction companies to submit photos documenting various stages of their work. However, contractors often face challenges due to the time-consuming nature of organizing the vast numbers of photos taken daily and the potential for missing important images. Recognizing the need for more efficient operations, the city launched a public-private collaboration initiative called mirai@, which aims to address the challenges faced by the construction industry. Lucre was selected as the implementing company for this crucial project, paving the way for Kuraemon's introduction.
Project Overview
- - Service Name: Kuraemon
- - Start Date: Beginning from May 28, 2023
- - Location: Sewer construction sites commissioned by Fukuoka City, including areas like Toyohama 1-chome in Nishi Ward.
Key Features of Kuraemon
1.
Automatic Photo Sorting by AI: With just a click, the system uses blackboard information to automatically sort photos in the cloud, significantly reducing the manual labor previously involved in organizing images.
2.
Real-Time Sharing for Stakeholders: Kuraemon allows immediate sharing of photos among workers on-site, office personnel, and partner companies through the cloud, facilitating parallel photo organization and minimizing back-and-forth communications for confirmation and corrections.
3.
User-Friendly Interface: The application is designed for ease of use, requiring no specialized IT knowledge. This intuitive interface enables anyone, from field workers to managers, to get started without confusion.
Future Developments
Through this pilot project, the city and Lucre aim to automate part of the photo management process to enhance work efficiency and reduce the risk of missing images. Kuraemon seeks to strengthen its role as a digital transformation platform in the construction sector, enhancing collaboration with local governments and construction businesses in the future.
About Kuraemon
Launched in 1999, Kuraemon solutions have been instrumental in alleviating the burdens of site supervisors overwhelmed by photo management tasks. Its adoption spans from major general contractors to small construction firms. In 2014, Kuraemon introduced the Kuraemon Pad, an advanced electronic blackboard designed to replace traditional methods in photo documentation, receiving top evaluation under the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism's NETIS (New Technology Information System) system. Additionally, as regulations on overtime in the construction industry tightened, Kuraemon Premium—a unified platform encompassing site applications, shared cloud, and software—was made available in April 2022. This innovative approach facilitates widespread adoption by focusing on construction photographs, thus promoting efficiency across all aspects of the construction site. As a leading digital transformation platform, Kuraemon aims to boost productivity for all stakeholders involved in construction projects.
