Continued Growth at Ontario International Airport
In August 2025, Ontario International Airport (ONT) reported a welcome rise in both passenger and cargo volumes, further extending its impressive record of year-over-year growth. This upward trend has lasted for 54 consecutive months in passenger traffic and 14 months in cargo volumes, promising a bright outlook for the airport's future.
Passenger Growth Metrics
According to recent data, ONT registered a total of
646,820 passengers in August. This figure reflects a modest increase of
0.5% compared to the same month last year. Notably, the number of international travelers soared with a remarkable
53.7% increase, totaling
53,950 passengers. This boost was largely attributed to the introduction of new air services to Mexico and Taiwan, which encouraged a surge in international travel.
In the first eight months of 2025, the airport welcomed over
4.6 million passengers, translating to a
1.0% increase from the same time in 2024. The growth was driven primarily by domestic travelers, numbering
4.3 million, which saw a slight increase of
0.1%. However, an impressive jump of
14.2% was recorded in international travel, reaching
348,000 passengers.

1% from the previous year. The total air cargo for August reached
69,023 tons. An interesting observation was the sharp increase in mail volume, which experienced a significant rise of
116%, while freight tonnage saw a decline of
8%.
