New Community Hub in Nagoya
Eight Design Co., Ltd., a renovation company based in Nagoya and Tokyo, has announced plans to construct a new community hub in the Nakagawa Canal Hirabuchi area. Groundbreaking is set for June 2025, with the facility expected to open in the spring of 2026. This project is part of the Nakagawa Canal Doors development plan, which involves cooperation with various firms including Nagoya Station Development Co., Ltd., Chubu Civil Engineering Co., Ltd., and Maru Architecture.
Vision and Objectives
The Nakagawa Canal has a rich historical background, having supported Nagoya’s industries during the Showa era. However, this area comes with its own set of strengths and challenges. Eight Design believes that this location holds significant potential for the future of Nagoya. By leveraging the area's existing appeal, the company aims to create new value as a renovation specialist. Since its inception, Eight Design has focused on community-oriented urban development through projects involving housing, retail spaces, offices, and commercial facilities.
With this new project, the hope is to foster a 'new cultural landscape of Nagoya' that brings together partners who share a vision of supporting dreams. The aim is to establish a community hub that connects people with each other and with their neighborhood.
