Yutong Bus T15E Achieves Exceptional Performance in Finnish Cold Weather Challenge

A Remarkable Achievement: Yutong Bus T15E in the Finnish Cold

In an impressive display of engineering prowess, Yutong Bus, a leading global manufacturer of utility vehicles, has taken its latest electric bus, the T15E, to the snowy and icy roads of Finland for an endurance test in extreme cold conditions. This test aimed to evaluate the T15E’s performance and capability under challenging circumstances, much like previous trials conducted in Norway and Kazakhstan.

The Finnish challenge involved extensive testing on slippery roads amidst temperatures plummeting as low as -20°C. Over a grueling 250 kilometers stretch from Oulu to Rovaniemi, the T15E not only showcased exceptional battery management but also excelled in stability, energy efficiency, and handling capabilities. Journalists and test passengers, including Juho Akseli Käki and Tom Alexander Terjesen, were impressed by the bus's precise maneuverability and luxurious driving experience, enhanced further by its advanced suspension seats and sophisticated interior ambient lighting.

The endurance test continued with a longer journey covering 609.8 kilometers between Oulu and Helsinki. Even under extreme temperatures, the T15E completed the trip with a state of charge dropping from full to just 2%. Remarkably, it achieved energy consumption of only 0.94 kWh/km, further proving the bus's viability for long-haul travel in severe winter conditions.

Victor Wang, a product engineer at Yutong Bus, commented on the significance of these tests, stating, "The T15E has demonstrated its capacity to maintain stable performance in extremely cold environments thanks to rigorous Arctic testing. Its range of over 600 kilometers caters to the diverse needs of high-end coach services for long distances. These established capabilities are supported by cutting-edge technologies allowing superior performance in adverse conditions."

Key features of the T15E include a new generation battery with high energy density, boasting a capacity of 630 kWh. This battery is paired with an advanced thermal management system to optimize efficiency in cold temperatures. The synchronous permanent magnet motor achieves up to 97.5% efficiency, complemented by Yutong’s energy-efficient regenerative braking system and low-temperature heat pump air conditioning features that enhance energy conservation and operational reliability.

With fast-charging capabilities at the megawatt level, the T15E can fully recharge in just over an hour, making it compatible with major charging stations throughout Europe. To bolster safety and operational effectiveness for long-distance travel, the bus is equipped with advanced safety systems including Electronic Braking System (EBS), Electronic Stability Program (ESP), and Lane Departure Warning System (LDWS).

This successful testing phase underscores Yutong's commitment to producing reliable and cutting-edge electric buses capable of thriving in diverse and challenging conditions, paving the way for future advancements in eco-friendly transportation solutions.
