From October 4 to December 28, 2025, a unique experiential exhibition titled ‘Jockey Encyclopedia’ will be held at the JRA Racing Museum located in Fuchu City, Tokyo. This event utilizes Canon’s Mixed Reality (MR) system, known as MREAL. By wearing the MREAL X1 display, visitors will witness an enormous encyclopedia coming to life, featuring a 3D computer-generated (CG) appearance of the popular jockey Masayoshi Kawada. Attendees will have the rare opportunity to observe and learn about the specific gear used by jockeys and the intricacies of their whip techniques while watching live demonstrations that replicate actual racing scenarios from close proximity with an unparalleled vantage point.

The exhibition is a collaborative effort from the Canon Group, brought to life through the planning and direction of Canon's Integrated Design Center alongside Canon IT Solutions Inc., who is managing the operational support and construction of the exhibit environment. This immersive experience encourages attendees to connect with the jockies as athletes and offers a vivid MR video setup that is sure to captivate participants. According to Fumitaka Tsuruga, Senior Research Officer of the Video and Web Production Department at JRA, the organization has been committed to enhancing its visual services. This includes the introduction of a jockey camera that simulates the experience from the jockey’s perspective during races and a real-time tracking system that displays the positions of each horse on monitoring screens. The integration of Canon's MR system has yielded an extraordinarily immersive visual adventure, aligning beautifully with JRA's initiatives. About Jockey Masayoshi Kawada

Born in 1985 and hailing from Saga Prefecture, Masayoshi Kawada was raised in a family of horse racing enthusiasts, making the transition to a jockey a natural progression for him. He made his debut as a jockey for JRA in March 2004. As of September 1, 2025, he has achieved an impressive total of 2,192 wins, 147 major race wins, and 29 GI victories (all with JRA), as well as 3 overseas GI wins. In 2022, he clinched the titles for the most wins, highest winning percentage, and most prize money earned, becoming the fourth recipient of the JRA Jockey Award, establishing himself as one of JRA's leading jockeys.
