International Cultural Program in Nobeoka: Connect & Create NOBEOKA

In an age where cultural interaction transcends borders, LunaTone Inc. is spearheading a new educational initiative in collaboration with Cable Media WaiWai, which aims to foster international cultural exchange. The program, titled "Connect & Create NOBEOKA: The Global Bridge Program powered by LunaTone Playable Creators Program," focuses on bringing together high school students from around the world and local students in Nobeoka, Miyazaki Prefecture, to work collaboratively on cultural projects.

Program Overview

The program consists of two parts:

Part 1: Metaverse Cultural Exchange Program

Date: November 8, 2025
Time: 15:00 - 18:00 (JST)
Location: waiwai PLAY LAB, Nobeoka City and online participation available.

In this unique experience, high school students from countries such as India and South Korea will team up with Japanese students to explore a virtual replica of Nobeoka. In this metaverse environment, they will engage in activities like the "Nobeoka Escape Game" and "Nobeoka Quiz," navigating through iconic local landmarks depicted in the virtual space, such as the Aoi Torii of Minato Shrine and Nobeoka Station's front area.

Through game-based learning, students will break down language barriers and interact based on common interests, laying the groundwork for deeper international understanding. This first part of the program is modeled after a successful “Metaverse Study Abroad” initiative held in Ibaraki Prefecture, utilizing LunaTone's innovative pedagogy known as "Playable Learning."

Part 2: Film Production Workshop

Dates: March 9-13, 2026
Location: waiwai PLAY LAB and various locations around Nobeoka.

For the second part, international students will visit Nobeoka to work closely with local high school peers in creating short films. Participants will go through a comprehensive process that includes orientation, location scouting, scriptwriting, filming, and video editing workshops, focusing on the theme of "Nobeoka through our eyes.”

Instruction in filmmaking will be provided by Cable Media WaiWai, where students can expect to gain hands-on experience in practical shooting and editing techniques using smartphones and gimbals. The program will culminate in a presentation event, where completed films will be screened at the waiwai PLAY LAB for local residents and education representatives, showcasing Nobeoka's allure as seen through international lenses. The final works will also be shared on social media platforms such as TikTok and YouTube, becoming a new local treasure.

Significance of the Program

This initiative emphasizes how overseas youth, immersed in Nobeoka’s rich nature and culture, can capture and express their experiences through visual storytelling rather than words. Such expressions will serve as a mirror for local residents, allowing them to rediscover their hometown from fresh perspectives.
