Madison Walter-Garcia Takes the Helm as President & CEO of Donate Life America
In an exciting development for the organization, Donate Life America (DLA) has officially appointed Madison Walter-Garcia as its new President and CEO, effective September 21, 2026. This change comes as DLA bids farewell to David Fleming, who has played a significant role in the organization for over three decades.
Walter-Garcia, a public health professional with extensive experience in behavioral science, holds a Master of Public Health from Emory University’s Rollins School of Public Health. Her background aligns perfectly with DLA's mission of educating and inspiring individuals to become organ, eye, and tissue donors.
A Track Record of Success at CDC
Prior to her appointment at DLA, Walter-Garcia dedicated nearly ten years to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). In various progressively senior roles, she was pivotal in establishing robust partnership and policy initiatives. Most recently, she served as the Associate Director for Partnerships in the Division of Foodborne, Waterborne, and Environmental Diseases. Her accomplishments at the CDC include:
- - Building partnership programs from inception to success
- - Cultivating relationships with an impressive network of over 1,000 stakeholders
- - Managing a gift portfolio exceeding $30 million through the CDC Foundation
During the unprecedented COVID-19 pandemic, Walter-Garcia was crucial in coordinating the Vaccine Task Force's operations, facilitating partnerships that reached millions nationwide.
