Automa Expands its Operations in the European Energy Market with New Plants
Automa's European Expansion: A New Era in Renewable Energy
Automa, a prominent Brazilian technology and software company, is making significant strides in the European energy market. In a bold move, the company has recently inaugurated a new office in Porto, Portugal, unveiling plans to provide innovative solutions for renewable energy producers across the continent. This expansion marks a critical milestone for Automa, promising to enhance operational efficiencies in the energy sector.
In 2024, Automa is set to deliver state-of-the-art solutions to five photovoltaic plants—four of which will be located in France and one in Poland. This venture aims to bolster the growing demand for renewable energy technologies within Europe, an area where Automa has already established its credibility after a remarkable growth phase in Brazil, where it services some of the country’s largest energy companies.
According to Marcelo Ferreira, CEO and founder of Automa, the company has experienced over 40% annual growth in the last three years across its operational fronts, which include hydroelectric, wind, solar power, energy storage, and substation management. He expressed ambitious goals, stating, "We aim for international revenues to exceed current earnings in Brazil within four years."
In Brazil, Automa plays a pivotal role, managing roughly 25% of the nation’s renewable energy generation, which equates to 40 gigawatts. The company’s operational team will now be strategically located in Porto and is gearing up for further expansion with plans to open a commercial office in Madrid, Spain, in 2025. This office will be led by Giorgio Inforzato, a seasoned professional boasting 15 years of experience in the European renewable energy landscape.
The timing of Automa's entry into the European market aligns perfectly with the impending delivery of its first projects in the region. The company is currently finalizing solutions for monitoring and operational oversight of solar plants in France and Poland, all owned by EDP Renováveis (EDPR). Ferreira highlighted that passing rigorous European certification processes is very significant for Automa, stating, "It validates our efforts to develop top-tier products recognized by some of the most demanding renewable energy companies across the globe."
With nearly two decades of experience, Automa has cemented its status as a leader in automation technologies, offering a range of advanced solutions including SCADA systems, automatic control systems, power limitation optimizers, and turn-key automation services. These innovative technologies have empowered its clients to realize up to a 5% increase in energy production. To date, Automa has successfully completed over 1,000 projects, established 50 operation centers, and equipped more than 200 substations with proprietary technology.
As Automa embarks on this exciting new chapter in Europe, the company is set to reshape the renewable energy landscape, not only enhancing operational efficiencies but also contributing significantly to the shift towards sustainable energy solutions in the region. Automa’s advancements are not just a triumph for the company but also a hopeful sign for the future of energy in Europe.
