MPC Paris Takes the Lead on VFX for Dracula
TransPerfect, known as the premier provider of language and AI solutions, has announced an exciting development from its MPC Paris studio. The studio recently completed its most ambitious visual effects (VFX) project to date for the film
Dracula, directed by the renowned Luc Besson. This collaboration is significant as it marks the sixth time MPC Paris has partnered with Besson, following their joint ventures on
Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets,
Anna, and
Dogman.
Acquired by TransPerfect in early 2025, MPC Paris has expanded its offerings to include high-end visual effects production, enhancing its capabilities beyond image and sound post-production, subtitling, dubbing, and voiceover services. This strategic growth places MPC Paris at the forefront of delivering comprehensive media solutions, allowing for a seamless experience from pre-production to final delivery.
For
Dracula, MPC Paris was the lead studio responsible for the film's visual effects, delivering an impressive 686 shots, including an extraordinary 10 fully computer-generated imagery (CGI) scenes. This volume of work is the largest the studio has ever undertaken for a single feature project, showcasing their growth and ability to handle complex creative challenges.
The collaboration between MPC Paris and the EuropaCorp production team saw a close working relationship throughout various stages of the film. The team played a crucial role in realizing the film's visual narrative, which combined the use of fully CGI environments with digital set extensions and realistic creature animations. A highlight of the VFX work is a breathtaking 40-second continuous shot that showcases Dracula navigating a digitally rendered world filled with over 70 choreographed CG gargoyles, exemplifying the studio's commitment to pushing the boundaries of visual storytelling.
"Working with Luc Besson and the EuropaCorp team on
Dracula was an exciting creative challenge for our studio," commented
Béatrice Bauwens, the Head of Studio at MPC Paris. She expressed pride in the complexity and scale of the project, emphasizing the studio's ability to support Besson's vision through high-quality visual effects delivered within a tight timeline.
Phil Shawe, President and Co-CEO of TransPerfect, praised the project, stating, "Our work on Dracula reflects MPC's unique ability to scale up and deliver complex creative projects for global audiences." This sentiment underscores the significance of the studio's role not merely as a service provider but as a creative partner in the filmmaking process.
For nearly 40 years, MPC Paris has been a pillar in the European visual effects industry, catering to studios, directors, and producers at every step of production, from initial preparation through to final delivery of content. With operations based in both Paris and Liège, the studio emphasizes creative collaboration, precision in technical execution, and high production quality across all its endeavors. Recent notable projects in addition to Dracula include
