TDY Remodel Design Award 2025: Call for Entries

The TDY group, comprising TOTO, DAIKEN, and YKK AP, has jointly launched the TDY Remodel Design Award 2025, welcoming submissions from July 1, 2024. This initiative invites design firms, construction companies, and remodelers nationwide to contribute their outstanding ideas and designs, aimed at invigorating the remodeling market.

Since its inception in 1985 as a photo contest, the event has evolved over the years, marking its 41st anniversary this time. The name has changed from the “Remodel Smile Award” to the “TDY Remodel Design Award”, providing a clearer message to customers about its nature as a design contest focused on remodeling spaces. The goal is to deliver stories of how exciting lifestyles and comfortable living can be achieved through remodeling to a broader audience.

Three judges, comprising architects and editors from housing information websites, will select a total of 78 winners from various categories, including the “National Excellence Award – Ten People, Ten Homes Remodel”. Various prizes such as “Excellence Award”, “Honorable Mention”, and the “TDY Product Space Proposal Award” will be awarded in both themed and area-specific divisions. Furthermore, there will be a public voting section where entries will be published on a dedicated webpage, allowing the audience to vote for their favorites. The results will be announced in January 2026.

TDY emphasizes understanding individual lifestyles in the remodeling process, encapsulated in the theme “Ten People, Ten Homes”. Winning entries will be featured progressively on the web content “Everyone’s Ten People, Ten Homes”, showcasing aspirational living spaces brought to life by professional proposals.

Call for Entries: Details and Guidelines
1. Eligibility: Projects must be remodels completed after October 1, 2024, utilizing products from TOTO, DAIKEN, or YKK AP, and must comply with relevant regulations.

2. Themed Divisions: Various themes to choose from for submissions include:
- Family changes and remodeling based on age
- Realizing dream living spaces through remodeling
- Creating comfortable living through remodeling
- Remodeled living that resonates with family's aspirations

3. Submission Period: Entries will be accepted from July 1, 2025, to September 30, 2025.

4. How to Submit: Detailed guidelines on submission and inquiries will be available on TOTO’s expert site “COM-ET”.

5. Evaluation Criteria: The judging will focus on understanding client needs, innovative proposal capabilities, and clarity of expression in submission materials.

6. Awards: Prizes include:
- National Excellence Award: 1 winner (Certificate, ¥100,000 prize)
- Themed Divisions: Excellence and Honorable Mention awards for various themes and areas.
- Public Voting Division: Prize for audience favorites.

7. Result Announcement: Winners will be notified directly in December 2025, with results published on the TDY remodeling information site in March 2026.
