In an inspiring blend of tradition and modernity, Western China's Melody emerges as a landmark intercultural musical documentary. Co-produced by the Western China International Communication Organization (WCICO) and renowned Danish producer HEDEGAARD, this project captures the essence of China's diverse cultural heritage through a captivating audiovisual experience.

A Journey of Discovery



The documentary encapsulates the rich tapestry of ethnic diversity in Western China, featuring the stories and music of various ethnic groups including the Han, Tujia, Tibetans, Yi, Mongols, Yugur, Hui, Zhuang, Dong, and Dai. Over the course of an adventurous journey spanning 7,200 kilometers, the production team diligently captured traditional melodies that are on the brink of extinction, such as the Adu High-Pitched Melody and the Mongolian tobshuur. Such immersive fieldwork highlights the importance of preserving cultural identities, particularly those that are at risk of fading away.
