Fujiko Co., Ltd. Joins WizDiversity to Promote Disability Employment

Fujiko Co., Ltd. Takes a Proactive Step Towards Inclusive Employment

Fujiko Co., Ltd. (Osaka City) has officially become a participant in WizDiversity Limited Liability Partnership (LLP) as of January 1, 2026. With this partnership, Fujiko aims to enhance employment opportunities for individuals with disabilities, making strides in promoting a more inclusive workforce in Japan.

Understanding WizDiversity and Its Reach

WizDiversity is recognized as Japan’s first LLp to receive the government's certification through the "Special Measures for Supporting Employment of Persons with Disabilities" program. This initiative allows small to medium-sized enterprises to engage in disability employment through a collaborative approach with welfare organizations. Currently, WizDiversity has 18 member companies, the most extensive network in Japan, achieving a real employment rate of 6.63%.

The collaboration promotes regular contracting of business services with welfare facilities that assist people with disabilities, thus generating new job opportunities across various sectors, such as floral arrangements, plant management, administrative tasks, catering, art creation, gift production, and many more. The initiative allows participating companies to fulfill their legal employment obligations while actively contributing to employee diversity.

Current State of Disability Employment in Japan

Despite upcoming increases in the statutory employment rate for disabled individuals to 2.7% by July 2026, the reality remains stark: about 80% of disabled individuals, roughly 3.56 million people, are currently unemployed. A staggering 57.3% of enterprises that have yet to meet employment obligations report not having hired a single disabled person. This general trend highlights an urgent need for innovative solutions to bridge the employment gap for individuals with disabilities.

Fujiko’s Commitment to Well-Being and Inclusivity

Established in 1962, Fujiko Co., Ltd. specializes in logistics for heavy materials, particularly within the steel sector, and has traditionally operated in industries requiring significant physical capabilities. Despite meeting the current legal employment requirements, Fujiko acknowledged the challenge of providing suitable roles for employees with disabilities within their predominantly manual labor operations.

In striving not just to comply with legal requirements but to create meaningful employment opportunities for all, Fujiko’s decision to join WizDiversity aligns perfectly with its mission. The company not only seeks to comply with regulations but aspires to foster an environment where everyone, including those with disabilities, can thrive and find fulfillment in their work.

As part of its collaboration with WizDiversity, Fujiko plans to place orders for various products, such as dried fruit as gifts for clients, while integration of floral gifts and art rentals into employee welfare programs is also in sight. This initiative is expected to involve more than 14 staff members with disabilities directly in the production chain, thus enhancing workplace diversity.

Insight from Leadership

Keiji Kimura, President of Fujiko Co., Ltd., emphasized the importance of this initiative, stating, "While we've achieved the legal employment rate, addressing the unique strengths and needs of disabled workers presents new challenges. Our cooperation with WizDiversity allows us to expand opportunities at a broader scale, fostering a workforce that is both skilled and diverse."

福寿満希, a founding member of WizDiversity, shared their goal of expanding to 100 participating companies across Japan’s 47 prefectures to amplify the impact of this initiative. The broader aim is to foster a culture of inclusive employment where individuals with disabilities can choose from a variety of roles that match their skills and aspirations.

Conclusion

Fujiko Co., Ltd.'s participation in WizDiversity marks a significant development in Japan’s ongoing efforts to enhance disability employment. By collaborating with welfare organizations and other businesses, Fujiko not only works towards fulfilling its corporate social responsibility but also sets an example for other enterprises to follow suit.

As the landscape for disability employment evolves, collective efforts like those initiated by WizDiversity and Fujiko will be crucial in transforming the existing barriers into pathways for inclusive growth and opportunity for all.
