Meijer Announces Increased Accessibility to GLP-1 Medications
In a significant move aimed at enhancing the affordability of essential healthcare products, Meijer has announced a new initiative that makes two of the most sought-after GLP-1 medications, Wegovy® and Ozempic® (semaglutide), more accessible to its customers across the Midwest. This initiative acknowledges the rising demand for these medications among patients and aims to support their health management at reduced costs.
As of February 10, 2026, Meijer has partnered with NovoCare® to enable its pharmacies to offer significant discounts on these medications. For the first two months, patients who haven’t previously utilized a coupon for these products can obtain the lowest two doses of either Wegovy® or Ozempic® for just $199 per month. Patients must complete their prescriptions by March 31, 2026, to take advantage of this introductory offer. Following this period, most doses will remain accessible for $349 per month, while the higher dose of Ozempic® will continue at $499 per month.
In addition, the recently FDA-approved oral version of Wegovy® will provide customers with a convenient alternative to the injectable form. Those who qualify can access special pricing through the NovoCare® program, which allows direct payment options starting at $149 per month and insurance co-pays as low as $25, making this innovative treatment even more affordable for patients.
To benefit from these discounts, customers simply need to visit the nearest Meijer pharmacy and present a NovoCare® coupon when filling their prescriptions. Importantly, no insurance is required, and Meijer’s pharmacists are prepared to assist customers with any questions regarding eligibility and coupon redemption. Jackie Morse, Meijer’s Vice President of Pharmacy and Health, emphasized the company’s commitment to its customers, stating, "Our customers are our top priority. We are committed to meeting their needs by collaborating with leading pharmaceutical discount programs. Meijer is proud to offer increased access to GLP-1 medications at a price that enables individuals to take charge of their health, and our team possesses the expertise customers need when selecting GLP-1 treatments."
Meijer's dedication to healthcare extends beyond medication. Through its Nutrition by Meijer program, the retailer provides virtual consultations with registered dietitians, alongside personalized programs for users of GLP-1. This service exemplifies the store’s holistic approach, supporting clients not only in medication management but also in tailored guidance on nutrition and overall wellbeing.
Customers interested in taking advantage of these offers are encouraged to visit their local Meijer pharmacy for more information. However, individuals with government-funded insurance are not eligible to benefit from these discounts.
Founded as a family-owned retail chain, Meijer has established itself across over 500 supermarkets, food stores, neighborhood markets, and express locations throughout the Midwest. As a pioneer of the one-stop shopping concept, Meijer employs more than 70,000 team members dedicated to providing customers with an enjoyable shopping experience both in-store and online. The retailer offers a wide range of fresh food, high-quality apparel, everyday essentials, and health and wellness products and services.
