Nutrition 101, LLC Welcomes Rick Shipley as New CEO

On June 10, 2025, Nutrition 101, LLC, a leading player in eco-friendly waste management services across the United States, announced a significant change in its leadership. Rick Shipley has been appointed as the new Chief Executive Officer (CEO), taking over from Cory Peter, who has held the position since 2009. Peter will now transition into the role of Board Chairman, where he will continue to drive the company’s strategic initiatives and growth.

Rick Shipley brings over 20 years of extensive experience in the environmental services sector, having held various leadership roles in the industry. His most recent position was as Chief Strategy Officer and Board Member at Denali. Furthermore, he has a solid entrepreneurial background, being the former Founder and CEO of Organix Recycling, where he showcased his competence in building dynamic businesses in the environmental space. Shipley's experience positions him well to lead Nutrition 101 during a pivotal period of expansion and innovation.

In his first comments following the announcement, Shipley expressed his enthusiasm about joining Nutrition 101. He stated, "I am thrilled to be joining the Nutrition 101 team as the company continues to scale its critical work in optimizing food manufacturing recovery and upcycling. The company's strategy is transforming the future of food lifecycle solutions, and I look forward to working with the team to propel Nutrition 101's growth and excellence."

Under Shipley’s leadership, the company aims to enhance its customer-centric approach and improve reliability in providing waste management services. Nutrition 101 has already made a significant impact on food waste recovery, reclaiming over 750,000 tons in 2024 alone, which translates to approximately 82 semi-trailer loads of food waste per day. This effort plays a crucial role in feeding up to 500,000 animals through responsible waste management practices. Shipley’s ability to scale operations is expected to further amplify these results.

Cory Peter, in his new role as Board Chairman, will still have an active involvement in the company’s direction, particularly regarding mergers and acquisitions, geographic expansion, and sustainability strategies for clients. Peter’s tenure has been marked by the implementation of innovative solutions that address the entire lifecycle of food waste, from production to recovery.

Peter remarked, "101 is excited to welcome Rick Shipley to our talented team. His extensive experience within the industry adds to the breadth of capabilities our team has harnessed since our founding, and under his leadership, I anticipate continued progress in delivering practical, customer-centric solutions that address the everyday realities of food manufacturers."

Nutrition 101 operates from its headquarters in Pendleton, Indiana, specializing in tailored waste management programs for food manufacturers. The company’s mission revolves around not just managing but optimizing residuals from manufacturing processes to promote maximum recovery opportunities. Their innovative approach lays the groundwork for producing high-quality feeds and long-term waste reduction and reuse solutions.

With Rick Shipley at the helm and Cory Peter steering the Board, Nutrition 101 is poised for a bright future as an eco-friendly leader in waste management solutions. Their commitment to sustainability and customer satisfaction heralds an exciting chapter ahead for the company, stakeholders, and the environment alike.
