Remote Quality Management Revolutionizes Air Conditioning Projects Across Asia

In a groundbreaking move towards enhancing quality management in air conditioning projects, SNK (ASIA PACIFIC) PTE. LTD., a subsidiary of Shin Nippon Kuko, has adopted QUANDO’s innovative remote assistance tool, 'SynQ Remote.' Starting from October 2025, this initiative will enable efficient quality management across four Asian countries: Cambodia, Vietnam, Myanmar, and Sri Lanka.

The Need for Change: Overcoming Travel Constraints

Traditionally, the process of site verification was burdened by extensive travel times. It would typically require 2 to 3 days for a manager to conduct a site check that only took a few hours. The geographical distances posed significant challenges, making it difficult for managers to respond to immediate concerns and effectively monitor ongoing projects. Recognizing this issue, SNK sought a solution to improve the reliability and speed of their quality assurance processes without compromising on the standards established in Japan.

Implementing Remote Monitoring with 'SynQ Remote'

With the deployment of 'SynQ Remote', SNK has shifted its operational paradigm from monthly in-person visits to weekly remote inspections. This method has significantly condensed the verification process. Managers based in Singapore can now connect to sites within mere minutes, allowing for quick assessments and immediate corrective actions when potential issues are detected.

Key Operational Improvements:

  • - Increase in Inspection Frequency: Transitioning from monthly site visits to weekly check-ins enables managers to maintain a steady oversight of projects.
  • - Improved Response Times: What previously took 2 to 3 days for a corrective action now can be resolved instantly, ensuring that any issues are dealt with in real-time.
  • - Prevention of Quality Issues: The ability to conduct frequent checks helps in identifying and addressing issues before they escalate, thus enhancing project quality from the outset.

Overcoming Communication Challenges

To further enhance their operational efficiency, SNK has introduced practical methods of communication during remote checks. For instance, when site conditions hinder connectivity, managers utilize pre-recorded photos and videos to facilitate clear instructions. By projecting visual aids during discussions, both the on-site staff and management can engage meaningfully, minimizing misunderstandings that often occur due to language barriers or misleading instructions.

The Role of Visual Tools

The use of digital pointers, drawing tools, and on-screen visuals enables managers to highlight specific areas and issues during remote sessions. This approach has considerably reduced the chances of miscommunication among multinational teams, ensuring that the quality standards are upheld consistently across all sites.

Expert Commentary

Tomoyasu Yubukubo from SNK's Construction Management Department commented on the change: "The importance of physically visiting sites remains significant; however, the time it takes to travel has hindered the speed of problem resolution. With SynQ Remote, we have developed a system that not only reduces travel but also increases the frequency of onsite quality checks. By sharing real-time updates while following site managers’ rounds, we can swiftly tackle potential issues. This initiative lays the groundwork for enhancing both the frequency and quality of our inspections, creating a more autonomous culture of quality improvement in our operations."
