Texas Southern University Welcomes New Dean of COSET

At FAMU-FSU, he served in a variety of notable roles including as a professor in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering and the inaugural Associate Dean for Faculty Affairs and Academic Innovation. With over a decade of leadership in higher education, Dr. Weatherspoon is an established figure within the academic community.

He has worked diligently to foster student research opportunities, having founded the NSF FREEDM Research and Education Program and supervised numerous graduate students who have achieved significant academic success. His research has garnered over $5.5 million in funding from prominent organizations including the National Science Foundation and Intel Corporation.

His professional experience also extends into the industry, with previous roles at Raytheon Systems, where he designed RF/microwave low noise amplifiers.
