Huawei Cloud Fosters Groundbreaking AI Computing for Various Industries

At the recently held HUAWEI CONNECT 2025, Zhang Ping'an, Executive Director and CEO of Huawei Cloud, delivered a keynote speech titled "Intelligent Capabilities: Empowering AI Pioneers Across Industries." His address focused on how Huawei Cloud is innovating AI computing services and empowering various sectors to leverage artificial intelligence.

AI Compute Service: A New Era

This year, Huawei Cloud introduced its cutting-edge AI Compute Service based on the CloudMatrix384 architecture. The new system leverages an unprecedented 8,192 graphics cards, significantly enhancing computing power to support hyper-scalable clusters ranging from 500,000 to 1,000,000 cards. This leap in capacity marks a critical resource for enterprises looking to harness AI's potential in the modern intelligent era.

Additionally, Huawei Cloud unveiled the Elastic Memory Service (EMS), a pioneering memory storage solution that expands RAM capabilities within the industry. This innovation dramatically reduces latency in multi-turn conversations for foundational models, greatly improving user engagement.

Efficient Data Centers with Liquid Cooling Technology

Huawei Cloud has rolled out fully liquid-cooled data centers located in Guizhou, Inner Mongolia, and Anhui province. These AI-supporting facilities can dissipate heat efficiently with a capacity of 80 kW per rack, achieving a Power Usage Effectiveness (PUE) as low as 1.1. This allows businesses to connect with their data centers easily using just a couple of optical fibers, subsequently tapping into Huawei Cloud's efficient AI computing capabilities and comprehensive AI cloud services without needing to redesign their existing infrastructure.

Zhang highlighted that Huawei Cloud's AI Token Service abstracts the underlying technical complexities and provides users with direct, actionable AI computation results. This enables businesses to maximize their compute output effectively, with the CloudMatrix384 super node featuring full integration of computing power, memory, and storage resources. It transforms sequential tasks into distributed parallel tasks, improving system output performance significantly across various computational tasks requiring different latency measures, thus offering 3-4 times greater output on a per-card basis compared to other solutions.

Streamlining AI Model Development

The company continues to refine its Pangu models in alignment with industry scenarios, collaborating closely with clients to resolve pressing challenges and conceptualize innovative solutions. Huawei's use of openPangu provides developers with best practices for AI training and logical deductions, making it easier to exploit AI computing power effectively. Concurrently, Huawei is advancing a proprietary Pangu model while increasing its investments to delve deeper into industry requirements, ultimately aiming to fast-track intelligent transformation across various sectors.

The Pangu models have been adopted across over 500 scenarios spanning more than 30 industries, significantly contributing to sectors such as public services, finance, manufacturing, healthcare, coal mining, steel, railroads, autonomous driving, and meteorology.

CloudRobo: Bridging Intelligence with Robotics

This year marked the launch of Huawei Cloud's CloudRobo Embodied AI Platform, designed to deploy advanced algorithms and cognitive logic in the cloud, facilitating lighter and more intelligent robots. By capitalizing on robust cloud computing power and advanced AI models, the platform allows robots to perform in varied scenarios efficiently.

To enable a continuous and secure communication channel between robots and the cloud, Huawei Cloud introduced the Robot to Cloud (R2C) protocol. Zhang announced that the first 20 partners have officially joined this initiative to explore the transformative potential of cloud-integrated robotics.

The Kunpeng Cloud Services: A Step Towards Synergy

A key strategy for Huawei Cloud involves the development of ARM-based Kunpeng cloud services that ensure performance, security, and reliability. Over the past year, the number of Kunpeng computing cores deployed has surged from 9 million to 15 million, marking a 67% increase. The Kunpeng platform continues to evolve, ensuring compatibility with core software and accommodating over 25,000 applications, thus reliably supporting diverse computing scenarios, from encoding and databases to web applications and cloud telephony.

Advancing Database Efficiency with GaussDB

Huawei Cloud's GaussDB databases leverage general-purpose supernodes to execute complex processes like multi-read and multi-write tasks across nodes, breaking free from the limitations of traditional architectures. Enhanced dynamic load balancing capabilities significantly boost parallel transaction processing efficiency with a staggering capability of handling 5.4 million transactions per minute—2.9 times higher than traditional clusters.

A Distributed Cloud for All Scenarios

Huawei Cloud has introduced a comprehensive distributed cloud solution that ensures seamless performance across various environments, including CloudOcean, CloudSea, CloudLake, and CloudPond. This innovation guarantees consistency in functionality wherever clients' businesses are located, effectively enhancing operational efficiency.

Conclusion: Meeting Industry Demands with Versatile Solutions

To support a practical approach to AI agent development and deployment, Huawei Cloud has launched the Versatile platform, designed for ease of use and efficient agent creation. Clients can quickly generate agents tailored to specific applications simply by preparing and inputting business documentation and flow diagrams.

Through various forums and panel discussions during the conference, Huawei Cloud demonstrated a compelling array of innovative technologies and practices. The event underscored how these advancements are crucial for the digital transformation of multiple industries, illustrating Huawei's commitment to pioneering AI and cloud computing initiatives in the evolving market landscape.
