Sumitomo Forestry Recognized Again for Excellence in Health Management in 2026

Sumitomo Forestry’s Commitment to Health Management

Sumitomo Forestry Co., Ltd., led by President Toshihiro Mitsukoshi and headquartered in Chiyoda, Tokyo, has achieved the prestigious “White 500” recognition for the second consecutive year in the 2026 Excellent Health Management Corporation program (Large Corporation Division). This certification identifies the top 500 corporations that excel in health management, established by the Japan Health Conference in 2016 to evaluate companies dedicated to superior health management practices. This year, a record 4,175 corporations participated in the program, highlighting the increasing emphasis on corporate wellness across the nation.

The Foundation of Health Management in Sumitomo Forestry

Sumitomo Forestry believes that enhancing employees' health significantly contributes not only to their individual happiness but also leads to improved productivity and job efficiency. Consequently, the company has developed the “Sumitomo Forestry Group Health Management Declaration.” This declaration emphasizes creating a workplace where employees can thrive both mentally and physically.

Initiatives in Health Management

To promote an environment that encourages employees to adopt better health habits, Sumitomo Forestry is implementing various initiatives. This includes organizing health events aimed at reducing the likelihood of skipping breakfast, as well as walking events to promote physical activity.

Moreover, all employees are required to undergo e-learning training covering various aspects of lifestyle habits, including diet, exercise, and sleep. Based on health check-up results, the company has also strengthened follow-up initiatives across all locations to ensure that secondary assessments are completed, consequently improving the secondary examination participation rate.

Additionally, the organization utilizes the results of stress checks to enhance workplace culture. Feedback training sessions and individual consultations are conducted company-wide to visualize issues and systematically explore improvement measures every year.

In 2023, Sumitomo Forestry will focus on enhancing employees’ self-care capabilities by promoting the use of a health promotion all-in-one app, further utilizing e-learning resources, and encouraging participation in specific health guidance programs.

Looking Ahead: Vision for 2030

With an eye towards the 2030 SDGs goal year, Sumitomo Forestry has established a long-term vision called “Mission TREEING 2030.” This vision delineates nine key challenges from three perspectives: the value to the earth's environment, the value to society and people, and the value to the market economy. Prominently among these is the goal of cultivating environments where workers can thrive.

Moving forward, Sumitomo Forestry remains committed to ensuring that everyone involved in its supply chain can work safely, healthily, and enthusiastically, thereby contributing to the realization of a sustainable and prosperous society.

Through these initiatives, Sumitomo Forestry aims not only to foster a health-conscious workforce but also to champion practices that ensure the well-being of individuals and communities tied to its operations.
