The iconic Masahiko Kondo is set to celebrate a remarkable milestone as he enters his 45th anniversary since debuting in the entertainment industry. He will host a special birthday live concert titled
Masahiko Kondo 45th Anniversary 'BIRTHDAY LIVE 2025' at the esteemed
Tokyo International Forum, Hall A on
July 12 and 13, 2025, just before his 61st birthday on July 19.
Born on July 19, 1964, Masahiko Kondo's journey began in 1979 when he took on the role of Hoshino Kiyoshi in the TBS drama
“3 nen B gumi Kinpachi Sensei.” His singing career launched shortly after, with his debut single
'Sneaker Blues' releasing on December 12, 1980. This track not only marked his arrival as a solo artist but also made history by becoming the first-ever debut single to top the Oricon weekly rankings.
Throughout the 1980s, Kondo continued to produce numerous hits like
'Yokohama Cheek,' 'Blue Jeans Memory,' and
'Gingira Gin ni Sarigenaku,' earning accolades including the
Best New Artist Award at the 23rd Japan Record Awards and his first appearance in the prestigious
NHK Kouhaku Uta Gassen. His momentum did not stop there; he released major hits such as
'High Teen Boogie,' 'Kejime Nasai,' and
'Orokamono,' the latter of which earned the
29th Japan Record Awards prize.
In addition to his music career, Kondo is recognized for his success as a racing driver since the 1980s. Currently serving as the representative and team director of the
KONDO RACING TEAM, he actively participates in Japan's top racing events, including
Super Formula and
Super GT. His commitment to motorsports extended in 2023 when he was appointed Chairman of Japan Race Promotion.
