Pasona Japan Launches English E-Learning for Disaster Preparedness for Foreign Employees

Pasona Japan's New English E-Learning Service for Disaster Preparedness

In response to the increasing frequency of natural disasters caused by climate change and anticipated large-scale earthquakes, Pasona Japan's General Affairs Division has launched an English version of its disaster preparedness e-learning service, 'Sona-tore,' specifically designed for foreign employees. This initiative aims to provide comprehensive disaster preparedness education through an engaging mix of text-based learning, VR experiences, and quizzes, beginning January 28, 2026.

As of October 2024, the number of foreign workers in Japan is projected to exceed 2.3 million, reaching an all-time high. The growth is attributed to the increasing demand for foreign talent due to specific skillsets, alongside the planned implementation of a training and employment system slated for 2027. Companies that hire foreign workers are expected to rise in numbers, amplifying the need for standard disaster preparedness across diverse employee populations.

Recognizing the specific challenges faced by organizations in managing their workforce efficiently amidst these changes, Pasona Japan focuses on crisis management solutions, providing services such as emergency stock preparation, education on disaster preparedness, and building deterioration diagnostics. Launched in June 2025, the 'Sona-tore' e-learning service incorporates a three-tiered program combining foundational lessons, immersive 360-degree VR simulations of disasters, and understanding tests to promote safety awareness among employees and enhance collective crisis response capabilities within organizations.

The addition of the English version to 'Sona-tore' ensures that all employees, regardless of their native language, receive the same high-quality disaster preparedness training. This effort underscores Pasona's commitment to fostering a safe and inclusive work environment where diverse employee groups can thrive. Additionally, the training contributes to the overall business continuity planning (BCP) of participating companies, reinforcing their operational resilience in the face of unforeseen challenges.

Key Features of the English Version of Sona-tore

  • - Comprehensive Learning Modules: The program consists of foundational learning materials in the form of texts and videos, immersive 360-degree WEB VR experiences where employees practice decision-making in crisis scenarios, and follow-up quizzes that reinforce knowledge retention.
  • - Performance Tracking: The service provides a robust performance management tool that visualizes learning progress through graphs and tables, allowing for centralized tracking of individual and departmental achievements.
  • - Customizable Content: Companies can create tailored courses, integrating their emergency response protocols and guidelines. As an optional service (additional cost), organizations have the ability to develop VR-based evacuation training materials based on their actual office layouts, further enhancing the learning experience.

This innovative e-learning solution is priced at 107,800 yen annually for up to 100 accounts, with additional accounts billed at 80,300 yen per 100 accounts yearly (all prices include tax). The launch of this English version of 'Sona-tore' aligns with Pasona's goal to empower foreign employees with essential safety knowledge, thus promoting a workplace that values preparedness and inclusivity.
