In collaboration with the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries and Nikkei Media Business, this edition of the awards introduces a special recognition category called "Let's Enjoy! The Flavor of Japan", sponsored by the food culture office of the Ministry. This initiative underlines the significance of not just surviving but thriving through good nutrition even amidst disasters.

Award Categories and Entry Details

The awards will accept entries across various sectors related to disaster food:
1. SDGs Initiative Category
2. Rice & Carbohydrates Category
3. Canned Foods Category
4. Retort Foods Category
5. Rolling Stock Category
6. Health-Conscious, Traditional, and Allergy-Friendly Cuisine Category
7. Judge's Special Award for manufacturers.

Entries are open from February 16 to March 31, 2024, and submissions can include multiple entries across categories. This flexibility encourages a wide variety of innovative products aimed at enhancing disaster preparedness through accessible and nutritious options.
