Discovering Textile Art at Interior Lifestyle Tokyo 2026
Fujie Textile is set to make a remarkable debut at the much-anticipated
Interior Lifestyle Tokyo from
June 10 to June 12, 2026, held at the Tokyo Big Sight. This exhibition marks an important milestone as it brings together the aesthetics of textiles and the world of art under one roof.
Originating from a philosophy established in the 1970s by the brand
Heartart—which emphasizes the idea of "Bringing Art into the Heart"—the exhibit will showcase the
TEXTILE ART COLLECTION. This unique collection features a collaborative piece titled
Between black & white by renowned graphic designer,
Kazuki Kobayashi. This work will be displayed in the
MOVEMENT zone, a recommended section for the latest design innovations.
Fujie Textile does not merely see textiles as functional products; rather, it champions the notion of viewing fabric as a form of art. This approach allows for a creative expression of materials and techniques, capturing the essence of texture, depth, and the warmth that comes from human craftsmanship. The
TEXTILE ART COLLECTION serves as a medium to share these perspectives and encourages a deeper appreciation for textile art.
A New Perspective in Textiles
In the
Between black & white series, viewers will encounter the beauty of everyday landscapes and memories translated onto fabric through hand silk-screen printing by traditional artisans from Kyoto. With 23 distinct designs, this collection showcases the elegance and affection that can be found in our daily environments.
The
Interior Lifestyle event attracts a diverse audience from both domestic and international markets, and the
MOVEMENT zone will display particularly design-rich and high-value items. The aim is to explore how textile art can create connections within the design industry, fostering interaction and inspiration among attendees.
Transforming Products into Art
Since the 1960s, Fujie Textile has been focused on developing textile designs that transcend mere products. The legacy of
Heartart continues to inspire the vision that textiles, which include curtains and cushions, should be enjoyed freely like art adorning a room. This philosophy has been an integral part of their mission for decades.
Launched in 2023, the
TEXTILE ART COLLECTION continues the legacy of
Heartart. Textiles, which play an essential role in daily life—found in clothing, curtains, and bedding—also serve as a canvas to exhibit lesser-known local craftsmanship and the superb skills of weaving and dyeing throughout Japan. Fujie Textile is committed to highlighting these qualities and has developed the collection to manifest both the fun and potential that textiles possess as artistic expressions.
Featured Works
The first piece in this collection,
Glowing Mountain, utilizes 1,200 years of history from Nishijin-ori, a traditional weaving technique, in collaboration with a design studio. Following this, the
Between black & white series represents the delicate artistry of Kyoto's craftsmen, who bring to life Kobayashi's imaginative designs through meticulous hand-screen printing. The collection comprises 23 pieces, currently showcased in Fujie Textile's showroom, but this exhibition marks the first opportunity to see the complete collection in the Kanto region since the gallery stoop exhibition in June 2025.
Attendees at the exhibition will have the chance to experience firsthand the new vision of textiles as art, presented in the creatively vibrant
MOVEMENT zone.
