TSE Carbon Credit Market Seminar
On July 4th, 2025, the Japan Planning Institute (JPI) is set to host a pivotal seminar focusing on the Tokyo Stock Exchange's (TSE) carbon credit market. Toshi Matsuo, head of the TSE Carbon Credit Market Development Office, will delve into the latest updates and future prospects of this rapidly evolving sector.
Seminar Details
The seminar will take place from 16:30 to 18:30, providing participants with an opportunity to engage deeply with the subject matter. In case you cannot attend the live session, an archive of the seminar will be available for participants to view at their convenience.
Keynote Overview
Since the launch of the Green Transformation (GX) League in 2023, which involves a carbon emissions trading system (GX-ETS), the framework is set to evolve significantly starting in 2026. This next phase includes mandatory participation for large emission businesses coupled with a framework for free allocation of emission allowances, obligations for emissions reductions consistent with past performance, and provisions for J-Credits aimed at enhancing overall emissions reductions.
