Clou's Next Generation Energy Storage Innovations Unveiled at Solar & Storage Live UK
Clou Unveils Next-Gen Energy Storage Solutions at Solar & Storage Live UK
Clou Electronics, a top-tier provider in energy storage systems from BNEF, recently made its European debut at the Solar & Storage Live UK 2025 event in Birmingham, presenting its cutting-edge liquid-cooled energy storage system, Aqua-C3.0 Pro. This new system represents a monumental leap in efficiency and safety for energy storage solutions, catering to the growing needs of the energy market in the UK.
This market is witnessing a robust growth fueled by clear political frameworks, established electricity market mechanisms, and diversified revenue streams. As large-scale energy projects increase, so does the demand for commercial and industrial energy storage solutions. Clou’s Aqua-C3.0 Pro stands out with its remarkable specifications, boasting an ultra-large cell capacity of over 600 Ah and a single housing capacity of 6.88 MWh. This innovative system achieves a notable 10.63% reduction in the total cost of ownership (TCO), making it an appealing choice for businesses looking to optimize their energy solutions.
Breakthrough Innovations
The Aqua-C3.0 Pro is a significantly enhanced version of its predecessor, the Aqua-C2.5, featuring several technological advancements. It employs a direct cooling technology that delivers refrigerant directly to the cells, combined with proprietary Smart-Scales balancing technology and SiC-String-PCS, leading to an impressive round trip efficiency (RTE) of 92.3%. This not only boosts the overall energy yield over the system’s lifespan but also enhances its operational reliability.
Furthermore, the CTR architecture increases safety by separating thermal and electrical paths and allowing for directed ventilation. Developed in partnership with the Corporate Research Center of the Midea Group, the 2.0-ThermoFlux system offers an extensive safety solution that includes early warning mechanisms, fire suppression, explosion protection, and active ventilation. This comprehensive approach ensures operational safety and business efficiency.
The Aqua-C3.0 Pro is also designed for ease of operation and maintenance, utilizing a 20-foot standard container to ease transportation. Its simplified component layout reduces installation complexity, while the self-powered auxiliary systems streamline onsite wiring. With the proprietary Smart-Scale technology, remote operation and maintenance become feasible, minimising the need for manual upkeep and significantly improving deployment effectiveness.
A Robust Product Matrix
In addition to the Aqua-C3.0 Pro, Clou introduced an advanced product matrix comprising the Aqua-C2.5 liquid-cooled energy storage system, the Aqua-E233 CI energy storage system, and Clou EMS. These products are versatile and cover various application scenarios from grid-side to CI-side, reflecting Clou's commitment to providing compatible solutions tailored to the local energy landscape.
With nearly three decades of experience in the power sector, Clou has made significant inroads in the UK energy storage market. Since its global expansion in 2018, the company has established a strong presence in American markets, executing multiple large-scale projects including the first utility-scale lithium-ion energy storage project in Indiana (110.2 MWh) and a large energy storage power station in Mississippi (765 MWh). Through these projects, Clou has gained invaluable insights that have the potential to enhance its contributions to the energy transition in Europe.
The company aims to integrate its products and solutions into local electricity markets and energy ecosystems with the aid of well-coordinated local teams, technology, and service provider networks, ensuring a swift operational response.
As Clou continues to innovate in energy storage technologies, it paves the way toward a more sustainable energy future, making a reliable contribution to the UK's energy supply and management landscape.
