Linyi, Shandong's Ambitious Plan for International Logistics Center Unveiled

Linyi's Vision for an International Logistics Hub

On October 10, 2025, the third International Sourcing Conference of the Linyi Trade City was held at a commercial center in Linyi, located in the eastern coastal province of Shandong, China. This significant event attracted over 2,000 international buyers from 99 different countries and regions, uniting them on a platform dedicated to global trade and cooperation.

Since its inception in 2023, this conference has become a crucial bridge for facilitating trade exchanges and enhancing mutual cooperation among Belt and Road Initiative partners. Known as China’s “logistics city,” Linyi has emerged as one of the nation's leading logistics centers, excelling in business services and acting as a pivotal distribution hub for various commodities.

Linyi leverages its unique advantages to excel in several sectors, including convening and exhibition economies, live e-commerce, and cross-border trading. The city is home to the largest collection of markets and an expansive range of commodities in China, with a staggering array of products spanning over six million types across 27 categories essential for both production and daily life. The Linyi commercial center itself boasts an impressive infrastructure, comprising 136 specialized wholesale markets, 63,700 retail shops, and 46,000 commercial households, employing around one million workers in the logistics sector.

With its extensive integrated transport networks, Linyi has invested in expanding its logistical capabilities through 22 logistics parks and over 3,000 national distribution lines, ensuring connectivity to all cities, ports, and entry points across China. Notably, the logistics costs in Linyi are approximately 30% lower than the national average, enhancing its competitive edge in trade.

The Linyi Commercial Center has made significant strides in internationalizing its market presence, constructing “four commercial centers” that facilitate both online and offline markets, covering domestic and international realms. In 2024, the total transaction volume at the center reached a remarkable 660 billion yuan, with its logistics volume surpassing one trillion yuan and import-export transactions amounting to 114.6 billion yuan.

In addition to attracting foreign traders, the Linyi Commercial Center actively encourages local companies to expand internationally. In the first eight months of 2025 alone, 476 companies operating from this center contributed to an impressive import-export volume of 10.267 billion yuan, showcasing a year-on-year increase of 58.5%. This demonstrates Linyi's commitment to integrating local businesses into the global market.

As Linyi continues to develop its logistics and trading capabilities, it stands as a testament to China's ambitions of fostering international trade and cooperation, positioning itself as a vital hub in the Belt and Road Initiative.
