BAIOX's Innovative Approach to Cybersecurity Training in Healthcare
BAIOX Inc., a Tokyo-based startup specializing in AI solutions for healthcare, is set to demonstrate its groundbreaking AI agent "MedPlato" at the International Modern Hospital Show 2026. This event will take place from July 8 to July 10, 2026, at Tokyo Big Sight. MedPlato focuses on training healthcare institutions in responding to cyber incidents, highlighting its role as a medical Chief Information Security Officer (CISO) agent.
As cyberattacks on healthcare organizations lead to serious disruptions, including the halting of medical services, policies are evolving to address these growing threats. The revision of the Medical Law Enforcement Regulations mandates enhanced cybersecurity measures in healthcare settings. Guidelines emphasize the need for staff training and preparedness, which reflects the importance of integrated cybersecurity strategies in the healthcare framework.
In June 2026, a parliamentary research group focused on encouraging cybersecurity initiatives in healthcare was established. The Japanese government has allocated funds in their supplemental budget to enhance medical institutions' cybersecurity, marking a significant step in national support for healthcare organizations facing these escalating cyber threats.
Despite these advancements, many healthcare facilities express concerns about not just having protocols in place but also being able to implement them effectively. There are numerous reports of organizations lacking the capacity to train staff for cyber incident preparedness or the absence of personnel capable of managing such training. Often, external training providers present logistical challenges and significant costs. BAIOX aims to address this by showcasing MedPlato's capabilities of providing in-house training during the exhibition.
Demonstration of MedPlato's Functionality
MedPlato is designed to generate training scenarios tailored to the specific context of a hospital, making incident response training relevant and practical. Its incident response capabilities focus on real-world threats like ransomware and unauthorized access, preparing healthcare personnel to navigate these scenarios efficiently.
Unlike generic training templates, MedPlato customizes scenarios based on the unique system architecture and operational framework of each hospital. This allows for rapid planning of training exercises that previously required extensive time and collaboration with outside consultants.
Visitors to the exhibition will have the opportunity to experience a live demonstration of how MedPlato generates training scenarios that hypothetically apply to their own healthcare settings.
About MedPlato
Co-developed with Associate Professor Kota Torikai from Gunma University Hospital, MedPlato represents a significant advancement in supporting CISO and CIO functions within healthcare institutions. Launched in April 2026, it operates on a premise installation model, ensuring that patient data remains secure within the hospital environment while utilizing advanced AI capabilities. MedPlato boasts 13 functionalities, including incident response, asset management, and disaster response, all adhering to three ministries and two guidelines.
BAIOX has received positive feedback at events like the 30th Annual Conference of the Japanese Society of Medical Informatics, where many healthcare professionals engaged with MedPlato's demo.
Statement from the CEO
Tetsuya Kurihara, Co-CEO of BAIOX, emphasized, "With the sophistication of AI, the threat of cyberattacks is escalating rapidly. It’s now a question of whether organizations can respond effectively when an attack occurs, rather than if an attack will happen. MedPlato seeks to empower hospitals by developing in-house capabilities for effective cyber incident response, delivering expert knowledge to every institution."
Event Participation
In addition to the exhibition, BAIOX will conduct a seminar featuring Associate Professor Kota Torikai, addressing the on-ground challenges in healthcare DX and cybersecurity and how MedPlato can help overcome these issues.
