The Future of Ka-Wa-I-I: Unpacking the Notion of 'Kawaii'
The University of Creativity (UoC), founded on the belief that "We are ALL born Creative", is positioning itself as a pioneering platform dedicated to the study and implementation of creativity across all ages and professions. This year, UoC has chosen to address the crucial question of where creativity will go in the AI era. The institution has embarked on an interdisciplinary exploration of the essence of creativity, research, education, and implementation in a rapidly evolving technological landscape.
As part of its ongoing initiatives, UoC hosts regular talk sessions featuring a diverse range of experts and practitioners. These sessions allow for an in-depth discussion about the unique human value of creativity, especially in an age when AI becomes ingrained in our social infrastructure.
In the 4th installment of their talk series, UoC welcomes Sara Juusto from Aww Inc. Sara has been instrumental in producing virtual characters like "imma" and has been at the forefront of merging cultural perspectives with cutting-edge technology. Her insights will shed light on how traditional Japanese aesthetics of "kawaii" can be interpreted through various lenses, including anthropology, culture, and history, alongside UoC director Kentaro Ichiro.
This session is particularly exciting as it is exclusively open to AI-native students who can attend free of charge. It poses an intriguing question: What new forms of creativity will emerge from the concept of "kawaii" in the AI era?
As seats are limited, we encourage interested participants to register as soon as possible to secure their place.
