The Story Behind the Mural
The mission of JAM Salon is to "expand the possibilities of beauty professionals indefinitely." With several locations across Japan, JAM is committed to fostering an environment where future beauty experts can shine. A key theme for the salons is the "awakening to beauty," reflecting the pure joy and curiosity experienced during one's first encounter with personal expression and style.
JAM's joyful mural series depicts children captured in their moments of sartorial awakening, affectionately termed as «our kids» by the salon's beauty practitioners. These illustrations serve as a reminder to both staff and clients of the excitement and creativity inherent in beauty.
The mural at the Yokohama location stands out as an innovative piece, marking the 10th installment of this beloved series. This mural presents a bold new artistic direction while maintaining the foundational sentiment of awakening to beauty.
Inspiration Behind the Latest Artwork
For the 10th mural at JAM Yokohama, the theme combines "Flowers" and the "Awakening to Beauty." Drawing inspiration from Yokohama's delightful atmosphere, where colorful flowers bloom abundantly, this mural depicts a child adorned with a daring floral headdress. The mural aims to evoke a sense of joy and beauty in everyone who steps into the salon, akin to petals floating in the breeze when an elevator door opens.
This unique representation of our «kid» in the Yokohama salon invites all to not merely enjoy the encounter with beauty but to actively nurture a love for it.

About the Founder, Takeshi Akazawa
Born in 1981, Takeshi Akazawa represents the "Lost Generation" and is a part of the Millennial cohort. He faced considerable challenges during the employment freeze, prompted by a lack of understanding of formal job application protocols. After graduating from university and attempting law school, he unexpectedly found himself in a period of unemployment.
His career began at the age of 29 with a contract position at a major staffing company, Pasona. Here, he discovered the importance of work as self-expression and embarked on numerous innovative projects. Eventually, he transitioned from contract to full-time employee, realizing his vision of starting new business initiatives.
Along with contemporary artist Yuuki Yamamoto, Akazawa founded OVER ALLs with the aim to reignite dreams and hope, which he felt were lost during Japan's economic downturn. They use murals as a medium to express these passionate emotions, collectively termed "WOW!"
