Overview of the 2025 Installation: 'Resisting Gravity'

The installation titled 'Resisting Gravity' invites visitors to immerse themselves in a sensory experience where they can feel the light, wind, and presence of trees. This interactive artwork evokes a profound sense of unity with nature, allowing participants to breathe in a space designed to replicate comfort and harmony found in natural settings. Natural materials such as cherry, oak, and chestnut wood will be used, along with surplus materials generated from renovation projects undertaken by Temahima.

The theme 'Resisting Gravity' draws inspiration from the natural forms of trees, contrasting the horizontal branches of cherry blossoms with the vertical growth of oak trees, symbolically representing the struggle against gravity. Throughout the creation of this piece, there has been a conscious effort to incorporate sustainable practices and materials, reinforcing the connection between environment and existence.

Designer's Statement

Designer Uchida from Temahima Real Estate shares his insight:

"Every living being struggles against gravity as part of life. The objective of this artwork is to highlight this often overlooked truth. Inspired by the structure of horizontal cherry tree branches, I seek to express the essence of 'resisting gravity' through our design. Central to this project is the appreciation for a sense of wonder— that both trees and ourselves coexist as extensions of nature in this space. I hope that visitors approach art with openness and experience the unexpected magic that nature offers."
