Dylan Walsh Joins the 13th Annual Remember Me Thursday Global Campaign for Pet Rescue Awareness

Dylan Walsh Joins Remember Me Thursday

In the upcoming weeks, the global campaign Remember Me Thursday® (RMT) is gearing up to shine a light on the plights of orphan pets everywhere. This year, the distinguished actor and animal welfare champion, Dylan Walsh, has stepped forward as a featured luminary of the campaign, which is set to take place on September 25, 2025.

Since its inception in 2013, RMT has united animal advocates, celebrities, and welfare organizations to raise awareness about the millions of pets in need of homes. The campaign is a call to action for people worldwide to come together and shed light on the urgent need for pet adoption.

Dylan Walsh, known for his significant roles in various television shows and movies, including Dr. Sean McNamara in Nip/Tuck and his recent portrayal of the Mayor of New York in Blue Bloods, shared his deep commitment to animal rescue. He acknowledged the staggering statistics surrounding homeless pets and expressed his pride in being associated with Remember Me Thursday. Walsh stated, “In our current world, I see too many shelter pets left alone and abandoned, all of them deserving of a loving family and forever homes.”

The campaign’s founder, Mike Arms, who serves as the President and CEO of the Helen Woodward Animal Center, started RMT after grappling with the tragic reality that over one million pets lose their lives in shelters each year in the U.S. He aimed to create a global awareness initiative that would mobilize individuals and organizations to protect and advocate for these vulnerable animals.

Walsh emphasized the importance of helping shelter pets, stating, “To take in dogs, and cats that have been through the worst and love them until they are adopted into loving, forever homes – this is support my family will always be behind.”

In addition to his recent pledge to RMT, Walsh has a history of supporting animal welfare. In 2019, he partnered with a local rescue organization, The Animal Pad, to promote dog adoptions on social media, which led to numerous applications in just hours. His personal commitment to animal advocacy is further demonstrated by his and his wife Leslie’s adoption of their dog Ash from a New Jersey rescue, as well as caring for another dog, Riley, who is overcoming cancer.

The Remember Me Thursday campaign is no stranger to support from various well-known figures. This year, Dylan joins an impressive list of previous and current supporters, including actors and public figures like Alicia Silverstone and Katherine Heigl. With nearly 100 influential luminaries backing the cause, their collective voices and social media outreach have helped create significant traction, contributing to RMT trending on platforms like Facebook and Twitter annually. Since its launch, the campaign has achieved more than 2 billion social media impressions, greatly amplifying its reach and message.

As the 13th annual RMT approaches, proud animal lovers and advocates are invited to participate in this global campaign. Joining Dylan Walsh and other celebrity supporters, participants will light virtual candles and share stories to honor orphan pets and promote the message that every animal deserves a second chance and a loving home.

Dylan Walsh's commitment alongside countless other luminaries amplifies the message that every little gesture toward animal rescue counts, and together, a path can be paved toward brighter futures for orphan pets everywhere.
