Kappa Sushi's Expansion of Sustainable Dining Options
Kappa Sushi, part of the Colowide Group based in Yokohama, Kanagawa, is poised to expand its partnership with the globally recognized food waste reduction app, Too Good To Go. This initiative, which has seen considerable success in the trial phase, aims to bring delicious dining options to a broader audience across the Tokyo metropolitan area by June 2026. The expansion will cover four prefectures—Tokyo, Kanagawa, Saitama, and Chiba—encompassing a total of 62 locations.
In a society increasingly focused on sustainability, food waste reduction has become a pressing issue. Kappa Sushi has long been dedicated to delivering freshly prepared food, and this partnership reflects their commitment to balancing taste with sustainable practices. As part of their ongoing efforts, Kappa Sushi commenced pilot initiatives in March 2026 at two of their locations in Tokyo, the Nerima Kunii and Minami Ikebukuro stores. Through the Too Good To Go app, customers could enjoy discounted sushi and side dishes, creating a new avenue for engaging with diners interested in reducing food waste while experiencing quality dining.
The Impact of Too Good To Go
The Too Good To Go app is an innovative tool designed to combat food waste by allowing restaurants and businesses to sell surplus food at discounted prices instead of discarding it. This service is available in 21 countries and boasts over 120 million users along with more than 200,000 partner establishments. Kappa Sushi’s collaboration with Too Good To Go is a significant step towards reimagining how food waste can be mitigated in the dining sector. By engaging customers who are keen on sustainable living, Kappa Sushi is helping foster a community around the shared goal of reducing food waste.
The upcoming expansion will introduce this initiative to more customers in the Tokyo area, starting with 12 stores in Tokyo, 15 in Kanagawa from June 4, 19 in Saitama from June 15, and 16 in Chiba from June 24. Some of these locations will initiate their offerings ahead of schedule, making it even easier for customers to indulge in their favorite sushi while contributing to a more sustainable future.
