Celebrating Innovation with a Special Lecture

On August 27, 2026, a special lecture titled "Let's Start with Curiosity" was held to celebrate the release of the book "The Optimal Answer to Innovation: A World Without Waste Crafted by Orderly Disorder" by Shinya Yamamoto at the Kawakawa Sports Community Facility in Okutama, Tokyo. This event was organized by "DICT Biblio DAO", a community derived from DICT (Design, Innovation, Co-Creation, Technology), and co-hosted with DICT Education DAO.

Venue and Atmosphere

The Kawakawa Sports Community Facility formerly served as a gymnasium for Furusato Junior High School, surrounded by lush greenery and majestic mountains like Sogaku-san and Mitake-san. The picturesque location invoked a sense of nostalgia, reminiscent of the author’s childhood surroundings. Participants gathered in a circle on the gym floor, immersed in conversation while the sound of rain occasionally fell outside, enhancing the intimate atmosphere as they absorbed the author’s words.

Reflecting on a Journey

In his lecture, Yamamoto shared insights into his life journey from childhood to adulthood, along with the foundation of DICT. He discussed how individuals drawn to DICT have begun managing events and projects, leading to the establishment of new companies. Among these was DICT Koinon, the 19th enterprise linked to DICT, with discussions on plans for a 20th on the horizon.

Additionally, Yamamoto emphasized the growing recognition of DICT’s initiatives in interdisciplinary fields both nationally and internationally, underlining the potential for further expansion.

Engaging Dialogue

The audience comprised 17 participants, including current students and alumni from the Hosei University Graduate School of Innovation Management, along with attendees from Shizuoka, Wakayama, and Okinawa prefectures. The diverse backgrounds included educators, healthcare professionals, small business consultants, company executives, and social entrepreneurs.

During the discussion, participants shared their current and future projects, touching on topics such as the importance of creating uniqueness through interactions in local communities, the issue of aging agricultural workers and the future of farmers in Japan, the current state and strengths of nursing and healthcare, and the foundational role of education in numerous fields. This dialogue reaffirmed the importance of starting small in entrepreneurship and developing networks.
