In the wind energy sector, Shanghai Electric has unveiled its homegrown Poseidon platform turbine with a capacity ranging from 18MW to 25MW, alongside Asia's first mother ship designed for offshore project operation and maintenance. This model features a distributed energy storage system, network-friendly wind turbine technology, and adaptability for various offshore scenarios, which include hydrogen production and floating turbines.

In energy storage, the company recently introduced a vanadium-iron liquid flow battery rated at 250kW, which helps reduce electrolyte costs while maximizing energy density. Additionally, its certified alkaline electrolyzer meets international performance standards, further enhancing efficiency and cost-effectiveness in the hydrogen production arena.

Expansion in Industrial Manufacturing


2024 also marked a breakthrough in high-end industrial equipment manufacturing, with new orders totaling 42.293 billion RMB. Shanghai Electric has accelerated technological innovation in its aerospace segment, addressing the increasing demand for essential components like aircraft blades and precision gears through national substitution initiatives. Their advanced manufacturing technology has enabled them to assemble aircraft engines and produce composite components with improved efficiency.

Furthermore, in automation, the company continues to advance with large-scale precision grinders and CNC machine tools. The acquisition of Ningsheng Industrial also enhances its capabilities in robotics and digital factory solutions, facilitating broader applications across production lines.

As an essential part of its growth, Shanghai Electric experienced a steady increase in integrated service orders, reaching 22.214 billion RMB in 2024—an annual growth of 13.02%. The company has embarked on expanding its energy engineering services to cover emerging energy markets, integrating custom solutions, and lifecycle management.

In line with its Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) objectives, Shanghai Electric implemented a carbon management platform that successfully reduced CO2 emissions by 23,000 tons across its operations. With ten factories recognized as smart factories in Shanghai, the company is also placing significant emphasis on research and development, with an expenditure of 5.67 billion RMB for 2024, reflecting a 5.5% increase over the previous year.
