In a significant move aimed at enhancing homeowners' insurance accessibility, CSAA Insurance Group has introduced a series of initiatives that align with California's Insurance Commissioner Ricardo Lara's Sustainable Insurance Strategy (SIS). This initiative is particularly focused on aiding AAA members in Northern California transition smoothly from the state's FAIR Plan, which has often been a last-resort option for many homeowners.

Transitioning from the FAIR Plan



The FAIR Plan (Fair Access to Insurance Requirements) is designed to provide coverage for homeowners who otherwise cannot obtain insurance. However, it is not a permanent solution. CSAA aims to reduce dependence on this plan, thereby fostering a more stable insurance market for California families. CEO Ryan Vigus stated, "Reducing reliance on the FAIR Plan is critical to its success, and we're working diligently with the Commissioner to make coverage more accessible to homeowners across the state."

With their new proposals, CSAA plans to offer quotes to AAA members currently enrolled in the FAIR Plan, initiating a process that could revolutionize access to insurance.

Addressing Rising Costs



In tandem with this expansion, CSAA has proposed a modest homeowners' rate increase of 6.9%. This adjustment reflects the economic realities of rising inflation and the heightened risks posed by natural disasters, notably wildfires. This increase aims to balance the need for profitability with the necessity of providing affordable insurance to consumers.
