Viksit Bharat 2047" vision that aims to advance AI-powered services.
Addressing Growing Demands
India's increasing need for HPC and AI capabilities has motivated the design of this AI data center to fulfill demands for global hyperscalers, leading labs, enterprises, and the country's sovereign AI initiatives swiftly and efficiently while utilizing carbon-free energy solutions.
AMG AI laboratories envisage democratizing AI, creating a value chain that stretches from on-demand electrons to intelligent tokens. These intelligent tokens serve as key inputs for customized models and applications across various sectors, including energy, healthcare, governmental clouds, manufacturing, automotive, media, and gaming.
Furthermore, this HPC computing facility will grant access to a broader Indian developer community to chipsets, fast-tracking the development of AI solution stacks for both domestic and global use.
Key Features of the AI Hub
The AI hub will feature:
- - Scalable Infrastructure: The project will be rolled out in phases, with the first capacity expected to be operational by 2028 and scaling up to 1 GW by 2030.
- - Strategic Location: Emphasizing the robust industrial corridors and favorable data center policies in Uttar Pradesh, this project aims to provide low-latency and reliable connectivity to emerging digital markets.
- - Green Energy Integration: Leveraging AMG's leadership in renewable energy, the facility will operate around the clock using CO2-free energy solutions, including wind, solar, and pumped storage systems.
Boosting Economic Growth
The signing of this MoU was witnessed by high-ranking government officials and AMG leadership at the World Economic Forum in Davos. This monumental project is forecasted to attract substantial Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) while generating thousands of skilled jobs in the region, ultimately nurturing a local ecosystem dedicated to hardware manufacturing, software development, and specialized cooling technologies.
Anil Chalamalasetty, Chairman of AM Group, emphasized, "Developing a global AI ecosystem with intention, intelligence, and adaptability will be a crucial asset for today and future generations. The AMG AI Lab’s focus on elevating electrons to intelligent tokens is a natural extension of our technology-driven approach for our businesses."
Mahesh Kolli, Group President of AM Group, added, "By combining 1 GW of computing capacity with our 24/7 green power solutions, we are not just building a data center, but rather creating a sustainable template for the future of global AI infrastructure with the support of the Uttar Pradesh government."
Insights on AM Group
AM Group, backed by the founders of the Greenko Group—one of India's foremost renewable energy conglomerates—aims to create differentiated platforms for molecules, materials, and AI technologies globally to enable industrial decarbonization and competitive large-scale tokenization. They are committed to developing carbon-free ammonia projects, with the goal of achieving a capacity of 5 MTPA for green ammonia. Notably, the current green ammonia facility under construction with a capacity of 1 MTPA will be among the largest RFNBO-compliant plants, contributing to net-zero objectives in India and international markets.
Additionally, AM Group is building production capacities for other net-zero molecules and chemicals, including green sodium hydroxide, E-methanol, olefins, and biofuels, including sustainable aviation fuels aimed at decarbonizing hard-to-abate sectors. They are also establishing a production facility for green aluminum with a capacity of 1 million tons per year as part of a broader offering in green materials.
