As we celebrate 60 years in the golf retail industry, Kotobuki Golf is excited to announce the Kotobuki Golf Amateur Championship 2025, which will run from September 18, 2025 to May 18, 2026. This year, we aim to create a welcoming atmosphere for golfers of all levels, especially beginners who may find competitive golfing intimidating.

A Tournament for Everyone

In response to feedback from previous participants and long-time industry professionals, we are launching this championship with a focus on inclusivity. The structure will feature assignable classes making it easy for both new players and seasoned participants to compete without pressure. Participants can expect ten tournaments, culminating in a final round held at the renowned Eniwa Country Club in Hokkaido.

• - Name: Kotobuki Golf Amateur Championship 2025
• - Dates: September 18, 2025 — May 18, 2026
• - Format: 18-hole stroke play, singles, scratch play
• - Venue: Eight qualifying tournaments followed by semi-finals and finals
• - Eligibility: Open to amateur golfers (no handicap required)

This championship will be hosted at top-tier golf courses throughout the Kanto region, including the Murasaki Country Club, with all tournaments played with the assistance of caddies. This ensures that players experience a combination of comfort and a genuine competitive environment. Notably, this event boasts a unique structure where PGA members serve as tournament officials, enhancing the overall quality and professionalism.

Grand Prizes Await!

We are thrilled to offer substantial prizes, with the champion receiving a shopping voucher worth ¥100,000 at Kotobuki Golf stores, the highest prize for an amateur event. Additionally, runners-up and semi-finalists will also receive shopping vouchers, continuing the tradition of rewarding participants generously.

Tailored Support for Newcomers

The 2025 championship focuses heavily on easing the transition for new golfers into the competitive scene. To facilitate this:

• - Five Skill Classes: Participants will be categorized into five skill-based classes to ensure fair and enjoyable play.
• - Educational Content: We will provide easy-to-follow video tutorials on rules and etiquette through our YouTube channel, making it simple for new competitors to familiarize themselves with what to expect. Topics will cover everything from bunker play to the “marker” system specific to competitive golf.

• - Free Workshops: Scheduled for August 31, 2025, from 14:00 to 16:00 at our Kotobuki Golf World Store, we will be hosting complimentary workshops led by Fumitaka Sato, a member of the Japan Professional Golf Association and our chief tournament official. This workshop focuses on the essential rules and manners every competitor should know.

Many prospective participants feel daunted by the competitive golf scene. However, engaging in this tournament can boost confidence and provide valuable experiences.
