Since its opening on August 24, 1985, Ueno Marui has been a beloved shopping destination, introducing Japan's first full-fledged food floor known as "Food Fun Pavilion". To show appreciation for four decades of support, the store is inviting local residents and tourists alike to join in a series of celebrations.

The first part of the festival commenced on July 25, aiming to reflect on 40 years of memories in the Ueno area. It included photo displays showing the history and community spirit of Ueno, all based on the theme "Thank You for 40 Years of Support!" Customers have responded positively, enjoying the smile-inducing photo exhibitions shared online and in-store.

Part 2: Exciting Panda Events!

Part 2 of the celebration from August 24 to September 19 features pandas, everyone's favorite animals! Visitors can expect a variety of panda-related events, including merchandise sales, exhibitions, and photo opportunities with panda characters.

The festival is highlighted by the Takashima Shion Exhibition themed "OPaPaPaPanda," showcasing the artist's whimsical and playful paintings, designed to bring smiles to all. Running from August 24 to September 7, expect joyful artworks created using unique techniques with paint and spoons, ensuring a memorable visual experience. The exhibition will occur at the 5F Event Space and will feature over ten panda artworks as well as larger animal installations.

In terms of activities, every Sunday during the celebration period, visitors can participate in a special photo session with panda mascots, Marumama and Marupapa, who will be joining the fun. Scheduled for August 24, August 31, September 7, and September 14, at 1:00 PM, 3:00 PM, and 5:00 PM, this event promises to allow fans to snap photos with beloved panda characters.

Stay tuned for additional events, including a social media campaign encouraging visitors to share photos of pandas found throughout the store, with prizes for participants. Shoppers also benefit from various panda-themed promotions around the store.
